Penns Woods Winery is teaming up with Pinot’s Palette to bring you two exciting painting classes at the Vineyard!

No Artistic Talent Required. Their talented fun-loving teachers guide you through each painting step by step.

• We will supply the canvases, brushes, paints and aprons.
• Each class includes one glass of wine and live music during the entire class.

$48.00 includes materials, live music and a glass of wine.

It’s Wineberry Days at the Brandywine Battlefield Park in Chadds Ford on July 17, 18 and 19. Visitors can pick their own wineberries, a type of red raspberry. Each person must use an official Brandywine Battlefield Wineberry Pail, which can be purchased for $5 each at the visitors’ center. Wear protective clothing, apply insect repellent, use buddy plan (accompanied by one or more of your friends or family. No limit on amount of berries picked or fun you have. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18, and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Looking for something to do that is both fun for kids and interesting for adults? Come by the Brinton 1704 House for our annual Family Genealogy & Summer Fun Fest.

We are making our extensive genealogical database available for research. Discover some family connections you might not have known. We are also making our World Explorer membership subscription to Ancestry.com available for use.

While you're researching your family roots, the kids can play authentic colonial games, such as Hoops, and Nine Pins!

Before you leave, make sure to go into the Brinton 1704 House, and take some light snacks in our amazing basement kitchen.

Creative Escape:  Designs in Clay

Wednesdays, July 22 or August 12, 6 to 8 p.m.  

Come to one or both

Come to the Brandywine River Museum of Art to unwind, mingle and make art! Designed for adults who want to awaken their inner artists, this program will include inspiration from the exhibition Plus Ultra: Moravian Tiles of the New World, and feature a hands-on tile-making activity. Participants will shape and carve designs in a soft clay tile, which will be fired in a kiln and ready for pickup at the museum one week after each workshop. Light refreshments provided & BYOB!

Kennett Square Area local folk band The Rose Project invites you to a great night of local music, fun, food, and wine at Paradocx Vineyard on July 25th from 5-9pm. Downingtown band The Jayplayers will be opening at 5:15 and The Rose Project will perform music from their first recorded album beginning at 6:30. Summer Art & Nature

PNC Arts Alive First Sundays for Families 

Capture the richness of the Brandywine's native plant gardens. Create butterflies and their host plants, use natural materials to invent your own insect, and add to a large butterfly installation. Hear Lisa Moulder McNamara read her children's book, The Untold Story of the Eensy Weensy Spider. Museum admission free until noon.

The first Wednesday of the month, we will have our 18th century dance class.  The class is open to all, novice to experienced. There is no fee and you are welcome with or without a partner.  The classes run from 7:15 PM to approximately 9:00 PM and we adjourn for a short break and light refreshments midway through the evening.  The dress is casual, modern clothing; period garb is definitely not required or encouraged at these lessons.

The classes are held each month at the "Barn" of the Chadds Ford Historical Society.  The Barn is located approximately one half mile north of Route 1 at 1736 Creek Road (old Route 100) in Chadds Ford, PA.  If you are driving north on Creek Road from Route 1, the Barn is on your left hand side directly across from the John Chad house.  You should pass the Barn building, make a left into the parking lot, drive around the back of the building and enter through the large gray double doors between the round stone pillars.  Come up the stairs to the main floor and turn right into the large meeting room where we practice.

The class has been taught each month for many years by Laura Bailey to the delight of her many students.  Laura makes the trip from Lancaster each month to teach in Chadds Ford.  She also teaches similar classes in Carlisle, PA and in New Castle, DE.

Recently the group has been meeting at a local restaurant for an "after dance" drink, dessert or dinner.  If your schedule permits, please plan to join us after the dance for a pleasant social hour to unwind at mid-week.
