The program is being sponsored by the Parkesburg Historical Group. The Stottsville Inn is located at 3512 Strasburg Road, just east of Parkesburg. Those attending can enjoy dinner or drinks before or after the talk.
“This is the 150th anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg and the Gettysburg Address and a perfect time to talk about two of the most significant events in the history of our nation,” said Mowday. “I’ve given talks at the Stottsville Inn and it is a great place to spend the evening talking about history and enjoying their fine food and drink.” Mowday will be available to talk to those at the talk both before and after the presentation.
Pickett’s Charge: The Untold Story was published in June by Barricade Books of Fort Lee, N. J. Mowday spent four years researching and writing the book. The book cost $20 and autographed copies will be available at Sottsville Inn. The book concentrates on the Union defense of the Confederate assault.
“We were honored to be able to include photographs from the J. Howard Wert Gettysburg Collection™,” Mowday said. “Some of the images in the book haven’t been viewed since the battle.”
Mowday has authored 15 books, including Jailing The Johnston Gang: Bringing Serial Murderers To Justice, Life With Flavor, the story of Jim Herr and Herr Foods, and September 11, 1777: Washington’s Defeat at Brandywine Dooms Philadelphia. For information on all of Mowday’s books see www.mowday.com.
