AHMEC is excited to present a unique collection of screen-used and production-made artifacts from Garrett Derr, Jr., of Project Stardate. Items that span decades include costumes, weapons, communicators, even pieces of the starship Enterprise! A delight for hard-core Trekkies and casual fans alike, this once-in-a-lifetime exhibit is a chance to peer behind the curtain and see some of the most iconic props from the Star Trek universe.
A Members Only Exhibit Preview and Speakers’ Series accompany the exhibit. It features legendary Prop Designer Michael Moore discussing his over 30 years of experience in the film and entertainment industry, specializing in prop fabrication and consumer product prototyping. He’s worked on multiple blockbusters, including the Star Trek franchise, and The Hobbit Trilogy, as well as cult classics, such as “Beetlejuice,” “Gremlins 2,” and “Re-Animator.”
You can participate in this event at the museum or by using your computer off-site.
A collection of items from one of the most iconic programs in television history comes to the American Helicopter Museum and Education Center (AHMEC). Beginning Friday, September 9, and continuing through Sunday, November 27, “Star Trek Screen-Used Props and Costumes” offers a unique collection of screen-used and production-made artifacts that span decades, including costumes, weapons, communicators, even pieces of the starship Enterprise!
“We are extremely thrilled to present this amazing assortment of items that incorporates the many worlds of Star Trek. You don’t need to be a Trekkie or know about each different cast and crew to appreciate this exhibit,” said Paul Kahan, AHMEC’s Executive Director. “People of all ages and interests will appreciate the creativity, imagination, and skill that encompassed everything that made Star Trek great.”
Opening the exhibit is a “Museum Member’s Only” Sneak Preview with legendary prop designer Michael Moore on Thursday, September 8, from 7:00 until 8:30 pm via Zoom. Moore has over 30 years of experience in the film and entertainment industry, specializing in prop fabrication and consumer product prototyping. He’s worked on multiple blockbusters, including the Star Trek franchise and The Hobbit Trilogy, as well as cult classics like Beetlejuice, Gremlins 2, and Re-Animator.
“Some of the highlights are the famous blue shirt costume worn by Jonathan Frakes in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode, ‘Angel One’,” Kahan continued, “a type-3 phaser, or phaser rifle as it’s also known, from the film, Star Trek: Nemesis, and a gold operations uniform from the television series, Star Trek: Voyager. We have about 40 items that will intrigue everyone.”
The exhibit also features an accompanying Speaker’s Series via Zoom that costs $25.00 per event (members are free) with five authors: Nancy Reagin (Star Trek and History) on September 15, A.J. Black (Star Trek, History, and Us) on September 24, Lawrence Krauss (The Physics of Star Trek) on October 19, Daniel Chavkin and Brian McGuire (Star Trek: Designing the Final Frontier) on November 2, and Sherilyn Connelly (The First Star Trek Movie: Bringing the Franchise to the Big Screen) on November 16. Participation is available onsite at the museum or with a personal device off-site.

The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center (AHMEC) is proud to announce its participation in the 18th annual Museum Day 2022 on Saturday, September 17. Museum Day 2022 features a downloadable branded ticket for free admission to participating museums around the country courtesy of Smithsonian magazine.
“We are so thrilled to be able to bring Museum Day to the public for the 18th year and to once again be able to highlight many of the museums and cultural institutions that make America so special,” said Amy Wilkins, Chief Revenue Officer at Smithsonian Media. “Through the support of our incredible sponsors, The Quaker Oats Company and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, we are able to enhance this initiative and continue to foster a sense of boundless curiosity for knowledge and culture across the country.”

The public is invited to attend Paoli Battlefield Heritage Day, featuring a Military Timeline. Historical Military Impressions and the Pennsylvania National Guard are assisting in the presentation. The public is invited to interact with the soldiers, see the weapons they used and learn about the clothing and other gear that these soldiers needed to outfit themselves on the battlefield. Many other programs will be taking place through the day.

Information will be available on the Battle of Paoli and why it was named the “Paoli Massacre” by patriots. Those attending can visit the 2nd oldest War Memorial in the United States, atop the grave of 52 of the 53 Continental Soldiers killed at the Battle of Paoli.
To close out the day, a veterans’ recognition ceremony will be held. Re-enactors will march out of camp and lay wreaths at the mass grave site of the patriots who perished during the Battle of Paoli on September 20-21, 1777. After remarks about the history and sacrifice of our fighting men and women, a bugler will play taps, which will then be followed by a firing salute.
Admission is a donation of $10.00 per person. The family rate, a maximum for four people, is $20.00. Children under 5 years old are free. PREACHER LAWSON, the star comedian made famous by NBC’s hit television series, America’s Got Talent, will take the stage at West Chester University for one performance only on Saturday, September 24 at 8 p.m. Tickets are now on sale to the public at www.wcupatix.com or 610.436.2266. Lawson is being programmed by the University as an entertainment outlet for students, families, as well as members of the surrounding community during the University’s planned “Family Weekend.” Tickets are expected to sell out.

Lawson is best known for his appearance on season 12 of NBC’s hit series, America’s Got Talent (2017) where he made it to the final round. Based off his stellar performance in season 12, Preacher was invited to compete on America’s Got Talent: The Champions (2019) and Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions (2019) where he advanced to the finale after receiving the most fan votes. Preacher can be seen on HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show and NBC’s Connecting. He was also the host of the Facebook Watch series World’s Most Amazing Dogs (2019) with George Lopez and Lisa Vanderpump and has built a following on YouTube of over 500,000 subscribers. In 2019, Preacher shot his first stand-up special, Get To Know Me, which premiered on BET+. Preacher recently completed his residency hosting AGT Live in Las Vegas and continues to perform at sold-out venues around the country.
Lawson is being presented as part of the University’s WCU Live! performance series. The remaining WCU Live! season includes: The Great DuBois, a two-person circus show, on Friday, November 4, at 7 p.m.; Erin Brockovich will speak as part of the President’s Speaker Series on Saturday, March 11 at 8 p.m., Rhythm of the Dance on Tuesday, March 14 at 7 p.m., and Tamagawa University Taiko Drumming and Dance on Tuesday, April 11 at 7 p.m. Tickets for all of these event are also on sale at www.wcupatix.com.
The 245th anniversary of the battle is upcoming and a grand re-enactment event will take place at Sandy Hallow in Birmingham Township on September 24 and September 25. Almost 1,000 re-enactors, including members of cavalry and cannoneers, will give demonstrations. The family-oriented educational event is open to the public.
