Time: 7:30pm to 9:00pm
Cost: $10 person / Free for our Sanderson Museum Members.

This event will feature large scale projection installations of photographs and artwork related to the life of Christian C. Sanderson. These installations are part of an on-going initiative by artists Michael Lynch and Matt Nelson entitled Projected in Place – a historical research and conceptual art project that superimposes photographs and paintings to life-scale, onto the original locations depicted in the images. When viewing the projection installation from the correct angle, the image can often have a three-dimensional or holographic effect, which may feel as though the viewer is looking into a window, or “portal” into the past.
This event will be free to all Sanderson Museum members, but the public is welcome with an admission to this event will be a $10 donation to the Sanderson Museum, which will also include a limited print of the event’s promotional poster. Soft beverages will be available during the event. Tours of the museum will also take place after the Photo Portals presentation.
This will be an outdoor event, weather permitting. Parking will be available in the Brandywine Prime parking lot in the rear of the Sanderson museum.
Please use the PayPal link below to get your tickets or, if you have a Sanderson Museum member, please email [email protected] to let them know you will be coming and how many will be in your party. Remember this event will be free to all Sanderson Museum members only.

Honey, like sugar, is sweet but what sets it apart is its flavor. Pure, natural honey produced by bees will not only be sweet, but will also have a flavor related to the nectar source. Learn how to recognize a good-quality honey and identify the floral source of the honey by its color, aroma, and flavor. Also learn how to discriminate and use liquid, creamed, chunk, comb, dried or fermented honey.
This program will take place on Wednesday, August 17, at 1:00 PM at the Rachel Kohl Community Library in the Community Room. Registration is required, as well as a $5 fee per person attending for supplies (honey!). To register, call 610-358-3445 or come into the library and speak with the circulation desk.

“On November 18, 1965, U.S. Navy pilot Willie Sharp ejected from his F-8 fighter after being hit over North Vietnam. With a cloud layer beneath him, he did not know if he was over land–where he would most certainly be captured or killed by the North Vietnamese–or over the Gulf of Tonkin. What followed was a dramatic rescue made by pilots and other airmen with little or no training or experience in combat search and rescue. Woven into this tale is the fascinating history of combat search and rescue mission that officially began in World War II.”

*** FALL HARVEST FESTIVAL CANCELLED ***
It is with much regret that Newlin Grist Mill announces the cancellation of the Fall Harvest Festival scheduled for Saturday, October 1st. This is in light of the current weather forecast, calling for significant and sustained rain with the potential for high winds overnight Friday and through most of the day Saturday.
We do not make this decision lightly and are taking into consideration the health and safety of our volunteers, demonstrators (some of whom are coming from long distances), vendors, and the public; the physical impact on the site and historic buildings; and the number of festival activities that are weather-dependent.
While the staff had hoped for a triumphant return of the festival this year, we feel this is the right call. We thank everyone for their understanding.
Newlin Grist Mill would also like to thank the volunteers, demonstrators, and vendors who have been working on the festival, as well as our sponsors: Chandler Funeral Home; Team Toyota; MOR Construction; Brinker Simpson; IT Edge; Barnard, Mezzannotte, et al; Tillman Automotive; Wegmans; Foulk Lawn & Equipment; R. Webb Excavating; WSFS; Amerihealth Caritas; Maguire Products; Univest Insurance; and Pennoni.
