Mushroom Festival
Sep 12 @ 12:08 – 13:08

Kennett Square is home to the Mushroom Capital of the World. The area accounts for nearly two thirds of all commercial mushroom production in the U.S., meaning from Philadelphia to Phoenix, if you enjoy mushrooms on your pizza, in your salads, or stuffed, sauteed or sliced, they quite possibly came from Kennett Square.

or more than 30 years, the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival has showcased the mushroom industry and the surrounding community. And after pandemic restrictions forced the cancellation of the well-known event in 2020, the 36th Annual Mushroom Festival is back with the theme, Rooted in the Community!

New this year, the Mushroom Festival app! Download on Apple or Google Play for schedule updates, wristbands, parking and other Festival info, mushroom facts and more!

The 36th Annual Mushroom Festival will take place at 600 S. Broad Street, Kennett Square, PA, Saturday, September 11, 9am-7pm, and Sunday, September 12, 10am-5pm. Wristbands are $5 per person.

“We are excited to be able to host this event, which has become a destination event for families here in Chester County and beyond,” said Gina Puoci, 2021 Mushroom Festival President.

Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center Presents An Evening With Let’s Hang On!: America’s #1 Frankie Valli Tribute Show @ Uptown! Knauer PAC
Sep 18 @ 20:00

America’s number one Frankie Valli tribute show, Let’s Hang On! is headlining at the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center Saturday, September 18 at 8 PM to perform some of the best music of the 1960s.

As the premier Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons act, their show has grown to a full-blown stage production with four amazing performers and an energized four-piece band, performing such hits as “December 1963,” “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” and many others.

By combining spot-on vocals and crisp choreography, Let’s Hang On! is renowned for preserving the sound, look, and style of Frankie Valli’s legendary band The Four Seasons. In addition to playing all the classics in The Four Seasons’ catalogue, they also pay homage to Jersey Boys on Broadway, the Tony, Grammy, and Olivier Award-winning musical hit.

“Let’s Hang On!’s performances feature classic, nostalgic music that brings back fond memories for most people; often happier, and much easier times,” said April Evans, executive director of Uptown!. “We are all so excited for their upcoming show to transport us back to the golden age of the 60s.”

The Let’s Hang On! show is just one of many exciting performances scheduled for September at the Uptown! including KASHMIR: Tribute To Led Zeppelin (Sept. 24), and Into The Mystic: Tribute To Van Morrison (Sept. 30).

Webpage: http://www.ccarts.org/artisans-show/

CCArts transforms outdoor field into a marketplace of fine handcrafted gifts & delicious food once a month to support local artists  and food vendors.

The Center for the Creative Arts launches a monthly outdoor market on Sunday, May 2, 2021 11am-3pm. “It is our hope that this  farmers market meets artisan show will become a community gathering place that nourishes people’s bodies and spirits with food  and art,” says Jennifer Hartz, CCArts Program Director and Market Coordinator. “When Jennifer brought this idea to one of our staff  meetings, I was really excited to support it. We have heard from so many of our working artist colleagues that 2020 and the  beginning of 2021 has been a difficult time since so many shows have been cancelled,” stated Melissa Paolercio CCArts Executive  Director. “Art shows and craft fairs are a huge revenue driver for so many local artists. We knew we wanted to do our part to  support them and what better way to invite our community back to campus then with a socially-distanced outdoor event.”

“The majority of the vendors are Delaware-based and will be selling handmade fine art and crafts including ceramics, jewelry,  felting, turned wood, painting and more. There will also be food vendors selling baked goods and local honey,” says Hartz.

Artists include: Stephanie Atkins (Mink’s Signature Foods & Desserts), Elisabeth Bard, Zachary Bloom (Zachary Bloom Jewelry  Designs), Damaris Colon (London Rock Art), Sue Ann Cox (The Fairy Potter), Christina Fabris and Joseph Csoltko (Iris and Callisto’s  Apiary), Pam Horstmann (Painted Threads), Bethann C. Kelleher (BBK Ceramics), Becki Mott-Lynn (Flossie’s Umbrella), Stephanie  Przybylek (Creative Animal), Valerie Walton (Val Walton Art), Abe & Bonnie Warren (Handcrafted by Abraham Warren), Patricia  Whitman (Links and Pearls). The Center for the Creative Arts (CCARTS) is located at 410 Upper Snuff Mill Row and Rt. 82, Yorklyn, DE.  For more information about CCArts, visit the website at www.ccarts.org, or call the center at 302-239-2434.

CCArts has been offering classes in the fine and performing arts for over 40 years as well as art exhibits, community celebrations and  the popular Yorklyn Live: Open Mic Night. The summer program serves 800 or more children over ten weeks each year and offers  scholarships to children in need. This program is supported, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state  agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
