Ewing exhibit opens at Chadds Ford Gallery
Nov 21 @ 17:00 – 20:00

Chadds Ford: Chadds Ford Gallery and To-Jo Mushrooms proudly presents a new works of art exhibit by W. O. (Bill) Ewing, opening Friday, November 21, 5:00pm to 8:00pm; the exhibit continues thru December 11. Located at 1609 Baltimore Pike, the gallery is open Tuesday thru Saturday 10:00 to 5:00, Sunday's 12:00 to 5:00 and accepts major credit cards.  For more information call 610.388.2412 or visit our web site www.awyethgallery.com

Bill Ewing, artist, specializing in portrait and fine art paintings returns to Chadds Ford Gallery in a one-man exhibit. When sharing Ewing's experience on canvas of a chosen subject, the viewer knows it is done directly from life.  Academically with a BFA, University of Tennessee, a MFA, University of Idaho, a post-graduate study under Arthur De Costa, at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, years of independent study here and abroad, DeCosta describes Bill as,"a very strongly talented, meticulous and adventuresome painter whose brilliance and bravura transcends any "school" concept.  His approach to art permits a kind of fluency of handling  and a translucency of color that his personal inner vision demands.  He is one of the best technicians I've ever known who is going about his work with intelligence and tremendous dedication."

Ewing's support comes from many friends, artists, clients, including Andrew Wyeth.  On a return drive from one of many Wyeth's visits to Bill's studio, commented to his friend Tom Drane of the self portrait on the  the cover art for this exhibit, "Subjects Matter",  "he enjoyed seeing the self portrait of Bill at his easel, calling him a "master" and suggesting that it should be shown."  It has been written, "Ewing, who lives in Chester County, is clearly a supremely accomplished painter ... He has nothing to prove to his admirers.  His timeless still life's - fruit and tableware arranged in various ways against beige studio backgrounds - are masterfully played variations on a theme.  Ewing's oils are the surfaces - firm apple skin and cool, reflective silver almost beg to be touched." Recent portrait commissions include the founder of Herr Potato Chips, Jim Herr and his wife; James McErlane, partner at Lamb, McErlane Attorneys, West Chester and Bruce Wilson, former Sr. Vice President of Conrail Department of Law.

Bill Ewing's wife Mary, is also an accomplished artist .... a frame maker, whose artistry surrounds her husbands' artworks.

To-Jo Mushrooms, located in Avondale, PA, has been active in the local community for years, supporting various philanthropic organizations every year.  Fine art is a special and important part of that support.  To-Jo has been a longtime patron to local artists, as well as personal friend [s] with Bill Ewing.  At this time we are proud to sponsor Bill's latest art exhibit, "Subjects Matter" at the Chadds Ford Gallery.  By doing so, we help in the production of the exhibit, and increase brand awareness for the To-Jo company in the Philadelphia area", said company President Tony  D'Amico

The Celtic Tenors Christmas
Nov 29 @ 20:00 – 21:00

Appearing at the

DUPONT THEATRE, NOVEMBER 29, 2014

Singing your favorite Christmas tunes from their debut Christmas CD,

“The Celtic Tenors Christmas”

The Celtic Tenors are coming to Wilmington, Delaware and they will be performing all of your favorite Christmas and Irish tunes at the DuPont Theatre on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 8pm for one performance only!  Tickets start at $50.

The Celtic Tenors are a three-man vocal group that includes Matthew Gilsenan, James Nelson and Daryl Simpson. The trio has been weaving together an eclectic repertoire of Celtic, operatic and popular songs for audiences worldwide since 2000.

By popular demand, The Celtic Tenors have just recorded their first holiday album, The Celtic Tenors Christmas available exclusively at their shows and on their website. On why they decided now was the time to make this album, James says, This collection of timeless Christmas classics from our childhood is dedicated to the Celtic Tenors' loyal supporters & fans who have requested a Christmas CD from the outset. Thank you all for your unending support."

During the performance The Celtic Tenors will create some holiday cheer by singing traditional Christmas songs, such as ‘O Holy Night’, ‘Angels We Have Heard on High’ and ‘We Three Kings.’ "These are the songs that over the years have filled our homes at Christmas time here in Ireland. We hope that everyone who listens to it catches a little bit of our Irish Christmas spirit.” says Matthew.

Their recent CD, Feels Like Home, is a 13-song CD that celebrates the uplifting music of Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales, while borrowing a few songs from other cultures along the way. Some of the songs on Feels Like Home are traditional and some are contemporary, but all of them serve as a reminder that the world is still a hopeful place.

The Celtic Tenors single, ‘Silent Night’ is also featured on a new holiday cd entitled Together For Christmas: A Contemporary Christmas Collection’ on Cosmic Trigger Records, available at www.togetherforchristmas.com.

18th Century Dance Class
Dec 3 @ 19:15 – 21:00

The first Wednesday of the month, we will have our 18th century dance class.  The class is open to all, novice to experienced. There is no fee and you are welcome with or without a partner.  The classes run from 7:15 PM to approximately 9:00 PM and we adjourn for a short break and light refreshments midway through the evening.  The dress is casual, modern clothing; period garb is definitely not required or encouraged at these lessons.

The classes are held each month at the "Barn" of the Chadds Ford Historical Society.  The Barn is located approximately one half mile north of Route 1 at 1736 Creek Road (old Route 100) in Chadds Ford, PA.  If you are driving north on Creek Road from Route 1, the Barn is on your left hand side directly across from the John Chad house.  You should pass the Barn building, make a left into the parking lot, drive around the back of the building and enter through the large gray double doors between the round stone pillars.  Come up the stairs to the main floor and turn right into the large meeting room where we practice.

The class has been taught each month for many years by Laura Bailey to the delight of her many students.  Laura makes the trip from Lancaster each month to teach in Chadds Ford.  She also teaches similar classes in Carlisle, PA and in New Castle, DE.

Recently the group has been meeting at a local restaurant for an "after dance" drink, dessert or dinner.  If your schedule permits, please plan to join us after the dance for a pleasant social hour to unwind at mid-week.
