Crafting a Narrative: Designing Costume for TV and Film: A Winterthur Symposium with The Costume Society of America, Mid-Atlantic Region Symposium

Jane Petrie, Emmy® award-winning costume designer for the Netflix series The Crown; Laura Mina, head of the textile conservation lab at Winterthur, and Dr. Damayanthie Eluwawalage, assistant professor of textile and apparel studies, Delaware State University, will present dynamic lectures on the industry, past and present. On Sunday, October 13, more than 1,500 oenophiles will help us uncork the cure to cancer as they celebrate the 28th Annual Wine Festival at Historic Dilworthtown. As the county’s premier wine event, the festival features more than 100 wines, craft beers, sumptuous fare prepared by Montesano Bros. Catering and local food trucks, a silent auction, shopping opportunities in the Gallery of Artisan Vendors, live music, a Performance Car Show, and much more. Proceeds from the wine festival benefit patients of The Abramson Cancer Center at Chester County Hospital and Penn Medicine at Home.
For friends and family members battling cancer, the cancer specialties at Chester County Hospital bring the world-class care of the Abramson Cancer Center close to home. As part of Penn Medicine, it offers the latest treatment protocols and cutting-edge technology. The outstanding medical staff, clinical team, nurse navigators and hospital volunteers are known for providing the highest level of care and attention to the needs of our patients. In addition to the pumpkin patch, there is a giant 'kid friendly' Haunted Trail, hayrides and live music. Food and Fall treats are offered by area eateries along with local craft beer and wine.

All proceeds from this fall fundraiser will help the library to amass the treasure needed to fill the 33% gap between the library's annual operating budget and government funding.

Enjoy the diverse scenery at Newlin Grist Mill on this 5K trail run through the 160 acre park. Or come out and walk our one mile course at your own pace. Either way, you’ll be supporting historical and environmental preservation, and helping to keep Newlin Grist Mill running! Proceeds will go toward the restoration of our historic water system which powers the mill.

Brandywine volunteers will be on-hand to dog sit well-behaved pets for owners who wish to visit the Museum’s galleries.

Guest Artist Luigi Mazzocchi Performs Beethoven's Violin Concerto.
The Delaware County Symphony opens the 2019-2020 season under the baton of guest conductor Steven Framil with Declaration of Peace (World Premier) by Stanley Grill. The concert continues with the ever popular and emotionally joyous Violin Concerto by Ludwig van Beethoven featuring guest soloist Luigi Mazzocchi, violin. The concert concludes with a work which captures the energy and exuberant optimism of the American people in Symphony No. 9, "From the New World by Antonin Dvořák. Sunday October 20, at 3:00 PM at Neumann University. All are invited to a free pre-concert presentation by Dr. C. Michael Kelly from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. in the McNichol Room. The Hickman Friends Senior Community of West Chester is excited to host the Second Annual Dine Around West Chester event on Tuesday, October 22nd. ARTZ Philadelphia was founded on the belief that people living with dementia should be accorded the benefits of well-being and quality of life that others enjoy. The Museum is pleased to partner with ARTZ to provide these cultural and creative opportunities. There is no charge for this program, but registration is required.
