Free Screenings for Veterans at Bianco Family Chiropractic to Promote New Law @ Bianco Family Chiropractic
Aug 28 all-day

In late March, Congress passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018, giving military veterans greater access to non-invasive, non-addictive pain relief through chiropractic care at more Veterans’ Affairs (VA) facilities throughout the country.

With the new measure in place, Chadds Ford-based chiropractor, Dr. Tom Bianco, is on a crusade to educate local veterans and their families about the benefits of chiropractic care, dispel concerns about treatment, and introduce them to the highly-specialized Gonstead technique.

“This legislation is a great start in continuing to care for those who served our nation,” said,” Dr Bianco. “Many of our veterans suffer from extreme back pain and other musculoskeletal conditions resulting from their service. However, there is reluctance in many to seek chiropractic treatment out of fear and misconceptions. Having used Gonstead for more than 25 years of practice, I have genuinely healed people who suffered debilitating pain and had no hope. I want to make a difference”

Now through August 31st, Dr, Thomas Bianco of Bianco Family Chiropractic is offering free individual evaluations, diagnostic X-rays, and personalized exercise regimens to get military heroes on their way to feeling good.

Currently, veterans have access to chiropractic services at more than 70 major VA treatment facilities in the United States, but nearly 100 VA sites offer little to no availability. This disparity comes at a time when the need for drug-free options for musculoskeletal conditions is urgent. VA data cites “diseases of the musculoskeletal system/connective system” such as back pain as the No. 1 ailment experienced by veterans returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan who access VA treatment. Moreover, surveys show that, like the civilian population, many veterans struggle with prescription painkiller (opioid) addiction.

“The Gonstead Technique is the gold standard of chiropractic care,” said Dr. Bianco. “It goes beyond what many chiropractors consider a spinal assessment. It is such a specialized approach that I am one of fourteen physicians in Pennsylvania with the credentials to practice it.”

For more information about Bianco Family Chiropractic or schedule a free consultation, call 484-840-9100 or visit biancofamilychiropractic.com .

 About Bianco Family Chiropractic

Established in 1996, Bianco Family Chiropractic tailors a chiropractic and wellness program specifically targeted to each patient’s needs, using the least invasive, yet highly-effective, techniques and services.

Founded by Dr. Thomas Bianco, the Chadds Ford-based practice is built on the principles and techniques of world-renowned chiropractor, Dr. Clarence S.Gonstead.

The Gonstead Technique goes beyond what many chiropractors consider a spinal assessment by conducting a thorough analysis of the spine using five criteria to detect the presence of the vertebral subluxation complex - visualization, instrumentation, static palpation, motion palpation, X-ray analysis.

Since its inception, Bianco Family Chiropractic has successfully restored the health and functionality of thousands of patients suffering with everything from stiff necks and aching backs to ruptured and extruded discs in the lumbar spine and much more.

Overdose Awareness Day
Aug 31 all-day

As part of Chester County’s commitment to tackle the opioid and heroin epidemic, the County’s Department of Drug & Alcohol Services announces the County’s participation in “International Overdose Awareness Day” on Friday, August 31, 2018.  On this day, the County will be joining communities around the world in encouraging residents, businesses and organizations to raise awareness of overdose, reduce the stigma surrounding overdoses and drug related deaths, remember the lives lost to overdose and acknowledge the grief felt by families and friends who have lost a loved one.

To mark the occasion, 144 pinwheels will be displayed in front of the Chester County Justice Center on Market Street in West Chester and the Chester County Government Services Center on Westtown Road, representing the 144 lives lost to accidental overdose in Chester County in 2017.  In addition, citizens are invited to participate in a moment of silence on August 31st at 9:30 a.m. to remember those lost to overdose and the loved ones left behind.

“Sadly, Chester County lost more loved ones to accidental drug overdose last year than in previous years,” said Vince Brown, Executive Director of the Chester County Department of Drug and Alcohol Services.

“Our community, as well as our country, continues to face an opioid and heroin epidemic and the disease of addiction knows no bounds,” he added. “Addiction does not discriminate against age, race, socioeconomic status or education level.”

Several Chester County organizations will be holding events on August 31st in honor of “International Overdose Awareness Day”.

  • Candlelight Vigil hosted by Kacie’s Cause at First Baptist Church, 415 W. State Street, Kennett Square, Pa 19348 from 7:00pm-8:00pm. This event will include featured speakers, a lighting of candles and “open mic” share for the attendees.
  • Candlelight Vigil hosted by Kacie’s Cause at The Green of Oxford Presbyterian Church, 3rd Street, Oxford, Pa 19363 from 7:00pm-9:00pm. This event will include featured speakers, a lighting of candles, ABE the pony, the Kacie’s Cause Mascot, and “open mic” share for the attendees.
  • “Building Community, Sharing Hope” hosted by Pennsylvania Recovery Organization-Achieving Community Together (PRO-ACT), at Charles A. Melton Center, 501 E. Miner Street, West Chester, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. This event will include a free buffet dinner, free Narcan®, several keynote speakers, recovery resources, and a moment of silence with a luminary ceremony to remember the victims of the disease of addiction.

Chester County remains committed to tackling the opioid and heroin epidemic through intensive health, education, treatment and law enforcement measures, coordinated by its Overdose Prevention Task Force.  The County recently announced the date of its 2018 Chester County Color 5K, an event aimed at raising awareness, reducing the stigma and raising funds to support overdose survivors, their families and friends.  The Chester County Color 5K will be held in Everhart Park in West Chester on Saturday morning, November 10th. For more information on the Color 5K Walk/Run, go to www.chesco.org/color5k.

Escape Brandywine is an escape room experience, set inside the historic Chads House, c.1725,  located along site of the Battle of Brandywine. This escape room program is unlike any other, since it places you directly inside an authentic historical space with a Revolutionary War mission!

Escape Brandywine places participants into roles of spies on the eve of the Battle of Brandywine, and charges them with finding General Howe's battle plans that have been hidden inside the Chads House for safe keeping. Using real Revolutionary War spy techniques, codes and cyphers, players will have 60 minutes to solve puzzles that will allow them to locate the plans and escape the house to deliver the plans to George Washington!
