As One Of The Nation’s Most Acclaimed Chicago Tribute Bands, Beginnings Authentically Recreates Such Classic Hits As "25 or 6 to 4," "Make Me Smile," & "Saturday In The Park"
The sweet sounds of Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductees Chicago will fill the air at the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center (226 N. High St., West Chester, PA) on Friday, January 21 at 8 PM as the preeminent Chicago tribute band Beginnings – A Celebration of the Music of Chicago takes the famed West Chester stage.
Since their genesis in 2002, Beginnings has earned the title as one of the nation’s favorite Chicago tribute bands thanks to their authentic replication of the iconic seven-piece band. Comprising several seasoned performers who have experience working with such legendary recording artists as The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, and Victor Wainright, Beginnings is famous for recreating Chicago’s massive collection of hits, including five of their Platinum albums and 20 of their most popular songs.
They brilliantly rejuvenate Chicago’s notorious setlists for a modern but respectful look into the rock’n’roll days of old, with songs such as "Make Me Smile," "25 or 6 to 4," "Call On Me," "Saturday In The Park," "Old Days," "You're The Inspiration," and many more.
Additionally, as seasoned performers for over twenty years, Beginnings makes it a priority to ensnare their audiences with high-energy performances that bring all the enthusiasm of Chicago’s original performances straight to the audience. Along with their dedication to authenticity, comes a promise straight from the band to “Make You Smile,” with every performance.
“Chicago has always been, and remains to be, one of the biggest names in rock n’ roll. To have the opportunity to host the best Chicago tribute band and have them perform their hits with a passion and dedication to accuracy that is parallel to none will only make this experience so much better,”said April Evans, executive director of Uptown! “I am so excited to see what they have prepared for our audience!”
Beginnings – A Celebration of the Music of Chicago show is just one of many exciting upcoming performances and events at the Uptown! Performing Arts Center in the new year. Others include a showing of Ratatouille (Jan. 24), Dueling Pianos; a monthly experience of pianist duos (starting Jan. 27); Hollywood Nights - The Bob Seger Experience (Jan. 29), a watching of the film, No Reservations (Jan. 31); and much more.

Unionville High School
- Fanfare for the Common Man – Aaron Copland
- Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman – Joan Tower
- Piano Concerto No. 2 – Camille Saint Saens, Xiayin Wang, piano
- Symphony No. 3 – Ludwig Van Beethoven
We celebrate Kennett Symphony’s return to the stage with two fanfares. Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man was commissioned to build patriotic sentiment during World War II, and honors the common man fighting for his country, while Tower’s Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman, an homage to Copland using the same instruments, is dedicated to adventurous women. Celebrated pianist Xiayin Wang will join us for Camille Saint-Saens’ Piano Concerto No. 2. We finish the program with Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 3, in which he embraced the heroic in everyone, making it especially apropos as we move forward from the pandemic.

A Reimagined Reopening
After meticulous restoration and an innovative transformation, our new Orchid House serves as the first realization of Longwood Reimagined: A New Garden Experience … and we are thrilled to share the preservation and expansion of this beloved, century-old space with you.
Transformed into an open, gallery-like space—boasting a new glass roof to restored interior and exterior concrete—our Orchid House provides an immersive orchid-viewing experience like never before. Hundreds of orchids lovingly displayed in custom frame trellises and our restored bronze case dazzle and delight, showcasing the beauty and diversity of our renowned orchid collection. With our curated orchids hand-selected five times per week for rotating display, there’s always something new—and something breathtakingly beautiful—to see.
Our restored Orchid House also sheds light on our dedication to save endangered orchid species both near and far. Through our Orchid Conservation Program, we have developed the technology to grow large seedling populations of native orchids for the purpose of restoring native orchid populations, in our backyard and far beyond.

Examine the exhibit’s rich collection of artifacts that speak to our unique student culture with Di Giovine; student co-curator Chelsey Moore; Charlie Warner, retired student life director of 30 years; Cara Jenkins, current director of Fraternity and Sorority Life; and Barrett McGee, associate director of Student Activities.
