Enjoy Colonial Brewing on Nov, 7, from  10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Thornbury Farm. It's an immersive history experience.
Join the Regimental Brewmeister for a unique opportunity to experience the art and craft of 18th century brewing. This class will malt the grain, brew the mash over the fire in true 18th century fashion and each participant will take home a growler of the result and necessary equipment to finish the fermenting process at home! Learn about beer’s place at the early American table and what really happened in colonial taverns. Wear work clothes and bring leather gloves. This workshop takes place outside so dress appropriately.
Attendance strictly limited to assure social distancing and supplies.
Price will be $75/person and this will include more Colonial Beer than you should drink. Every participant will have the opportunity to participate, hands-on, in the making of the wort and then take some of that wort home to ferment into beer (ie I will be giving you a growler, airlock, and some yeast and if you follow the provided instructions in about 10 days you will have Spruce Beer).

Jazz Worlds Collide At The Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center As It Presents A Beautiful Mosaic Of Music With “More Than Just Your Jazz Standards” @ Uptown! Knauer PAC
Nov 18 @ 19:00

Featuring Renowned Singers Sara Michaels & Sharon Sables, Two Generations Of Jazz Will Perform Re-Imagined Songs Ranging From Rock And Pop To Classic Jazz and Even A Few Originals

Two Jazz vocalists, two generations of music, and two very different sounds are coming together for ONE night of unforgettable music at the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center (226 N. High St., West Chester, PA) on Thursday, November 18 at 7 PM. Sound too good to be true? Not when it’s a special evening with esteemed singers Sara Michaels & Sharon Sables performing “More Than Just Your Jazz Standards.”

For one night only, these two sirens will join forces to collaborate on songs by Gladys Knight, The Beatles, James Taylor, Cindy Lauper, Carole King, Elton John, and Stevie Wonder, as well as jazz classics by Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Edith Piaf, Louis Armstrong, and more. However, before their dual performance, each will be treating the audience to an exclusive solo performance featuring original music from her respected latest collection of music, including Michael’s critically-acclaimed hit “Hard Winter” (2021) and Sables’ beloved album Love Evermore.

Sables, who found herself immersed in the teen pop world as a young recording artist for LaFace/Arista records in Atlanta at the age of 17, has recorded with, and for, many of the era’s pop/R&B heavyweights such as Pink, Babyface, Mandy Moore and Boyz II Men. Now, she incorporates her pop influences into her jazz performances and is recognized as one of the region’s most respected interpreters of song with sold-out appearances throughout the East Coast.

Influenced by Sable to go beyond her jazz standard repertoire, which can be heard at Uptown’s “The Jazz Cocktail Hour” where she is the host, Michaels says,

“We are two different generations, with two very different styles and sounds to our voices. Sables’ voice is pitch perfect; sweet and clear with delicate dynamics and quite intoxicating. Whereas my voice has a soulful, gutsy style with a rich, lower range that is quite a contrast from Sables. Both can tell a story in song so differently, and when we sing together it's oh so fun!”

Performing alongside Sable and Michaels will be The Terry Klinefelter Quintet, featuring WCU’s Dr. Terry Klinefelter on piano, Jazz Guitarist, Arranger, and Producer E. Shawn Qaissaunee (Stevie Wonder, Broadway’s Greg Riley) and Philadelphia’s most sought-after drummer Harry “Butch” Reed.

“More Than Just Your Jazz Standards” is just one of many exciting upcoming performances and events at the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center in November. Others include Max Weinberg’s Jukebox (Nov. 20); the Linda Ronstadt Experience (Nov. 21), and more.

Juke Box Hero: Iconic Drummer & Late-Night TV Band Leader Max Weinberg Heads To Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center With His Night Of Music Revelry @ Uptown! Knauer PAC
Nov 20 @ 20:00

The Former Drummer For Ringo Starr & Bruce Springsteen's E. Street Band Invites The Audience To Pick The Set List – In Real Time – And Sing Along With His Band Jukebox

Legendary drummer Max Weinberg, who is best known for providing the backbeat to such iconic bands as Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band and Bruce Springsteen's E. Street Band, as well as serving as the band leader for all three of Conan O'Brien’s late-night shows, is bringing his famed, rollicking Jukebox ensemble to the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center (226 N. High St., West Chester, PA) on Saturday, November 20 at 8 PM.

Hailed as a “party” rather than a “performance” by the countless fans and critics who have laid witness to the heralded hootenanny, Weinberg and his four-piece band literally immerse the audience in the show by inviting them to choose the set list – in real time – from a lexicon of over 300 classic songs that are broadcast on a video screen inside the venue. Songs range from the Rolling Stones and The Beatles to Bruce Springsteen, Steppenwolf, and many more and fan participation is, of course, highly-encouraged.

“In all of my years in the music business, I have never seen a show quite like Max’s Jukebox,” said April Evans, executive director of Uptown!. “His performances take audiences to a new level of enjoyment; he’s absolutely magnetizing.”

Weinberg has been in the music industry for close to six decades and has stayed at the top of the nation’s radar for much of this time. Weinberg performed in bands such as Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band and Fire Inc., but is mostly remembered as the longtime drummer for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band as well as the bandleader for Conan O'Brien on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.

He formed Jukebox in 2015 with one goal in mind. To create a truly interactive experience, where he could invite the audience to create the set list, in real time, and he and his four-piece group would play songs from the glory days of rock n’ roll.

Max Weinberg’s Jukebox is just one of many exciting upcoming performances and events at the Uptown! Performing Arts Center in November. Others include More Than Just Your Jazz Standards (Nov. 18), the Linda Ronstadt Experience (Nov. 21), The Rocketeer (Nov. 22), Bacon Gives Back(Nov. 27) and more.

It’s So Easy To Fall In Love With The Linda Ronstadt Experience At Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center @ Uptown! Knauer PAC
Nov 21 @ 15:00

American Idol Finalist Tristan McIntosh Will Be Taking The Stage For A Fully-Immersive Performance Of Beloved, 11-Time Grammy Award Winning Singer-Songwriter Linda Ronstadt’s Greatest Hits

With 11 Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, two Academy Of County Awards, an Emmy and an ALMA Award, few artists will ever come close to the iconic status that singer-songwriter Linda Ronstadt has earned. Which is why, on Sunday,November 21 at 3 PM, the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center (226 N. High St., West Chester, PA) will be honoring the now retired icon with a special performance by The Linda Ronstadt Experience.

Featuring acclaimed Lead Vocalist Tristan McIntosh, a finalist in American Idol 2016, The Linda Ronstadt Experience recreates Ronstadt’s greatest hits over numerous genres – folk, rock, country, jazz standards, opera and even Latin. Ronstadt and her band’s ability to cover several genres of song with the same profound, heartbreakingly beautiful melody is what made her stand out as a performer, and The Linda Ronstadt Experience’s ability to emulate this talent makes them a one-of-a-kind tribute to a legendary artist.

McIntosh brings formidable vocals and a passion for singing to every performance, reinvigorating each song for the 21stcentury. After completing her run as a finalist in American Idol 2016, McIntosh found her home with the Linda Ronstadt Experience and became the final piece of the puzzle for its members. With a fiercely diverse portfolio and the talent for enthralling audiences, McIntosh tells a story with Ronstadt’s lyrics and bridges a gap between generations bringing the full-bodied vocals of the original performance to a modern era.

Among the members of The Ronstadt Experience band are Founder and Veteran Bassist Junior Cain, Drummer Doug Plavin, Producer, Songwriter and Sideman Adam Michael Rothberg on keyboards, guitars, and harmony vocals, and with Rothberg on guitar and harmony vocals is Bronson Bush.

In addition to Ronstadt’s own songs, the band’s set list includes songs that she wrote for, or co-wrote with, other artists such as Warren Zevon, Elvis Costello, The Eagles, Tom Petty, Jackson Brown and more.

“The Linda Ronstadt Experience will blow you away,”said April Evans, executive director of Uptown!. “They have all of the on-stage charisma and passion of Linda herself; I can’t wait for audiences to see what they bring to the stage.”

The Linda Ronstadt’s show is just one of many exciting upcoming performances and events at the Uptown! Performing Arts Center in November. Others include The Rocketeer (Nov. 22), Bacon Gives Back (Nov. 27); and finishing off November’s events is the Bottle Shock + Pre-Wine Teaser (Nov. 29).
