Newlin Grist Mill and Wild Birds Unlimited-Concordville are teaming up to explore the wonderful world of bird life. Join us for monthly naturalist-led walks through the 160-acre park at Newlin Grist Mill. We will meet year-round residents, visit exciting migrants, and learn the basics of bird identification and biology.

Have you heard the buzz about Hagley's STEMtastic Weekends? Beginning Saturday, January 18, there will be three weekends of fun with a robotics and coding theme. New hands-on activities and special guests will be featured each day. You can build one of these friendly Buzz Bots during the first STEMtastic Weekend. Children will get the chance to view demonstrations from local robotics teams, dismantle electronics to discover what makes them work, and use their creativity to make their own invention. Join STEMtastic Weekends on the second floor of Hagley's Visitor Center.

The Kennett Chocolate Lovers Festival, the largest in the tri-state region, will be held Jan. 26 at a new location - Unionville High School. The Festival raises funds for United Way of Southern Chester County. Tickets are on sale now at www.KennettChocolate.org. VIP ticket holders gain early entrance at noon. General admission opens at 1PM. Additional tasting tickets are available. Parking is free at our new location. The enormously popular “Year of Living Chocolate!” raffle is back! At $10/ticket or $20/3, you can be entered in a raffle to win a chocolate dessert monthly from different area bakers and chocolatiers starting in March of 2020. The raffle winner is announced on Valentine’s Day 2020. Raffle tickets are available online through the ticketing store as well as being sold at the Festival.

Original members of the Tuskegee Airmen, the nation’s first African American military pilots, along with other members of the unit such as ground crew and nurses, visit West Chester University to celebrate the release of the book Tuskegee in Philadelphia: Rising to the Challenge, in which they are featured. They’ll talk about their service, segregation in the military and at home, and their post-war civilian lives before signing copies of the book. A brief film, honor ceremony, and display of personal and chapter artifacts are part of the event.

On Saturday, they will frame the 'still wet' paintings and hang them in the Visitor Center exhibit and meeting rooms. That evening from 6pm - 8pm, the Society will host a special Artist Reception where guests can meet the artists, discuss their creations and purchase the artwork. Light refreshments, wine and beer are being served. Artwork will be on display and available for purchase through March 14th, 2019.

Seven-Week Course: Christianity Explored
Who: Whether you're religious, irreligious or undecided, Christianity Explored is a place to explore the big questions of life while also reflecting on what Christianity is all about. Who is Jesus? What did he do? Why does it matter?
What: With a relaxed environment, we’ll begin each week with a dinner for participants and their children. You don’t need to know anything about the Bible; you can be religious or irreligious. Also, you won’t be asked to sing, pray, or read out loud. And you can ask any question you want! Plus, childcare is provided each week

Food historian Marc Meltonville will give a talk titled, “Hearth to Home: A History of the English Kitchen,” in which he will discuss how the kitchen as we know it developed and evolved overtime. This talk will kick off the 2020 Newlin Series, offering in-depth looks at topics related to the theme of historic foodways.
