Stephen Barrar will host a seminar on real ID on Thursday, May 16, from 6-8 p.m. at the Garnet Valley Middle School auditorium to help eliminate confusion surrounding Real ID. The seminar will give residents of the 160th LD a chance to hear representatives of PennDOT explain what they will need to comply with the new requirements. People will not be required to do anything right away, Barrar said, but they will have to comply when their driver’s license comes up for renewal.

Participants will meet at the Brandywine River Museum of Art parking lot at 9:15 a.m. before driving their own vehicles to the farm. Water and bathrooms are available at the site. CHESTER COUNTY STUDIO TOUR
May 18 & 19, 2019
Nothing is better for those who love art, and especially those who collect great art, than two days of opportunity in May to meet artists in their studios and a chance to own unique masterworks.
“I am amazed at the talent that keeps popping up in Chester County! This year we have some outstanding new talented artists joining us, along with our stable of artists who create something new every year for the tour. There is so much talent in Chester County that it’s worthy of hefty applause,” said Jeff Schaller, artist and show coordinator. “The public will have a unique opportunity to see the creative process as many studios on the tour will feature works-in-progress and artist demonstrations. The tour has something for everyone, from the first-time art buyer to the seasoned collector, in a wide range of mediums and prices.”
This year, 144 artists in 63 studios will exhibit different mediums, such as painting, sculpture, jewelry, photography, clay, glass, paper and fiber. All the artists will be on hand to share their studios, discuss their work, and meet buyers and browsers alike.
The 2019 Chester County Studio Tour is free and open to the public on Saturday, May 18, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 19, from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Please visit www.chestercountystudiotour.com for a map, artists and studio listings, and catalogue. Handicapped accessible studios are marked on the studio pages in the catalogue and on the website.

A Seminar on Lyme Disease
Brought to you by the Chadds Ford Township Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Presented by:
Doug Fearn, Chairman
Lyme Disease Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Inc.
Monday, May 20 at 7:00 pm the Chadds Ford Township building
10 Ring Road, Chadds Ford, PA
How knowledgeable are you and your family about the symptoms, prevention and treatment of Lyme disease caused by tick bites?
Do you know that Lyme disease can cause fever, severe headaches, neck stiffness, extreme fatigue, rashes, arthritis with severe joint pain and swelling (particularly the knees and other large joints), facial palsy, intermittent pain in tendons, muscles, joints, and bones, heart palpitations or an irregular heartbeat, episodes of dizziness, shortness of breath, inflammation of the brain and spinal cord, numbness or tingling in the hands or feet, problems with short-term memory, etc?
As of December 2018, Pennsylvania ranked first among the 50 states with 11,900 new Lyme cases. Because only 10% of Lyme cases are reported, the CDC believes that the number of infected individuals in Pennsylvania was closer to 119,000.
This seminar has been designed to give you the information you need to help you and your family.

grooveKIDS is a group percussion experience for children in grades 1 through 6. This is a FUN 30 minute session that is designed to teach younger students about teamwork, listening skills, as well as build some confidence while we are at it!
One of the key things we focus on in these session are listening skills. Very simply, passing a rhythm around the circle, where each student listens to the player before them, then copies what they hear, and so on down the line. Simple exercises like this really refines the students’ listening skills - which is a benefit that has application in school and at home!
This is also a physical activity and one that involves no screen time whatsoever - so it is a great way to get your kids into an activity where they put the phones and tablets down!

Winterthur has a secret. Scattered throughout the various offices, storage rooms, and libraries of our extensive campus is a midcentury modern furniture collection. Represented in this group of furnishings is an incredible spectrum of Knoll and Herman Miller objects purchased as early as 1957. Unity by Design explores the perceived juxtaposition of midcentury modernism at an institution rooted in traditional Americana. This lived collection of approximately 150 objects provides an exciting opportunity to both evaluate how American design operates in a cross-generational context and explore how midcentury modernism was and is experienced.
Visitors will be wrapped up in a midcentury modern interior as they explore the evolution of this distinctly American design movement. They will have the opportunity to take an in-depth look at the construction of midcentury modern furniture to better understand how industrialization and technical innovation influenced the design of these objects. Don’t miss this opportunity to see Winterthur’s first gallery exhibit on midcentury modern furniture! Exhibit is in the Society of Winterthur Fellows Gallery. Included with admission. Members free
