Pat’s first two songs he penned that fall in the mid-nineties are, still to this day, the crowd favorites, “Rebecca” & “Haven’t Seen For A While”.
Honest, from the heart songwriting with musical influences deeply rooted in classic rock is prevalent throughout his entire 10, soon to be 11 album catalog. His first obsessions were the guitar driven styles of Eric Clapton, Allman Brothers Band & Grateful Dead paired with the Laurel Canyon singer-songwriters scene such as Jackson Browne and James Taylor.
Chester County participates in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
Additional temporary prescription drug disposal sites to be added to Chester County’s 26 permanent drug disposal locations on Saturday, April 27th
Chester County’s Department of Drug & Alcohol Services is spreading community awareness for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day taking place this Saturday, April 27th. Organized nationwide by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), National Prescription Drug Take Back Day provides temporary local sites for safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.
From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27th, temporary prescription drug disposal sites will be set up throughout Chester County, in locations including Avondale, Coatesville, Downingtown, Paoli and West Grove. Find a location near you
Prescription drug misuse is an ever-growing epidemic not only in Chester County, but across the nation. Commonly misused prescription drugs fall into three different categories which include opioids, which are pain relievers and have a similar chemical make up as heroin; sedatives, which are used to treat anxiety and depression; and stimulants, which increase attention, energy, blood pressure, heart rate and breathing rate.
“In order to decrease first time use of prescription drugs, it is imperative to begin with prevention efforts,” said Vince Brown, Director of the Chester County Department of Drug and Alcohol Services. “In addition to education and awareness, prescription drug misuse prevention includes locking up or monitoring prescription medications that are in the home and disposing of any unneeded or expired prescription medications at a medication collection box.”
Prescription painkillers such as Vicodin, Percocet, Oxycodone, Fentanyl, and Morphine, among others, are in the opioid classification of prescription drugs. Opioid prescription drugs essentially have the same chemical make-up as heroin, which means they affect the brain and body the same. Opioid prescription drugs have had a large hand in the opioid and heroin epidemic which our county, as well as our country, is currently facing.
Chester County remains committed to tackling the opioid and heroin epidemic through intensive prevention, education, treatment and law enforcement measures, coordinated by its Overdose Prevention Task Force. Celebrate the 2019 Longwood Gardens Community Read with TLC as we jump into community gardening! Seedfolks, by Paul Fleischman, tells the story of how a 9-year old girl’s simple act of planting lima bean seeds sparks 13 very different individuals from various ethnic backgrounds, cultures, and ages to come together to create a community garden. TLC’s new, 5-part series for children and young adults will introduce the basics of gardening and teach techniques for growing success. Participants will sprout seeds, transfer plants, tend the garden, and harvest produce. The end of the series will culminate in a garden feast!

The Kennett Symphony of Chester County will sponsor its annual Instrumental Competition for Young Artists on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 12:00 pm at the Kendal at Longwood Auditorium, Kennett Square, PA. The competition is limited to twenty gifted young musicians in grades 9 to 12, each of whom will perform a classical composition or movement of a larger work for solo instrument and orchestra. The Young Artist Competitions provide an invaluable performance experience for these aspiring student musicians who have achieved a high level of proficiency.
The auditions are open to the public and are free of charge. Each of the young musicians will be judged by a panel of professional musicians. Three prizes will be awarded - first prize provides a $750 cash award and the opportunity for a solo performance with the Kennett Symphony, second prize is $300, and third prize is $100.

On Saturday, April 27th Friends Association for Care & Protection of Children will be hosting their annual “Life is a Cabaret: an Evening of Jazz and Broadway” concert to benefit the families and children at Friends Association located in Chester County at The Abbott’s Barn from 6.00 – 8.00 pm. Doors open at 5.30 pm.
“Those families who either are experiencing homelessness, or have been notified of eviction, are able to turn to Friends Association for family shelter or support in fending off eviction. We are so appreciative of the musicians who donate their time and the attendees who enjoy the event because their support assists struggling Chester County families who will benefit from housing stability, and guidance for financial independence,” said Jennifer Lopez, Friends Association Executive Director.
Think of a cabaret as a great meal that’s extravagant, prepared with great care, nutritious and good for the soul. During such a meal, one expects balance and variety–savory and sweet, familiar and perhaps unfamiliar with a variety of textures and flavors. Born in India and raised throughout the US, Nithya Rajendran has spent nearly 20 years in music, film and television. Starting as a college representative for Sony Music Entertainment she went on to work for Capitol Records and Universal Music. During her time in the music industry, she toured twice with Ozzfest managing metal bands on Epic and Columbia Records additionally doing A&R for Epic’s metal department. Nithya is also a drummer having played with Philadelphia’s The Elevator Parade and various artists in New York City. She was the host of Brooklyn metal mecca, Saint Vitus, heavy metal karaoke to which she was the subject of a cover story for The Metro (circulation 12 million) in 2014. Switching gears back to her what was her original focus in film, Nithya now oversees the voiceover department for the Screen Actors Guild in New York City. She is a graduate of Drexel University where she studied music, film and gender studies.

The next court date for oral argument has been changed to Monday, May 6th at 1 p.m. in Pittsburgh.
The decision to move the court date from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh was appealed by Westtown Township solicitor, Patrick McKenna, and sadly denied, leaving no other alternative. It seems Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Pittsburgh have a week long, rotating schedule for Commonwealth Court and Crebilly Farm just happened to get bumped to Pittsburgh. Because all parties involved were not in agreement to move back to Philadelphia (i.e. Toll Brothers and the Robinson family), it will stay in Pittsburgh.

The race will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. at Wilmington Brew Works located at 3129 Miller Road, Wilmington, DE. The race starts promptly at 6:30 p.m. and the course is a scenic route along Matson Run Parkway. The post race party and award presentations will be held at Wilmington Brew Works following the race.
