The Chester County Sheriff's Office invites the public to attend its Fifth Annual Cruise Night, a fundraiser for its K-9 Unit. The event will be held at West Chester University's Farrell Stadium from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19. It will include raffles, a deejay, K-9 demonstrations, and an array of vehicles from hot rods to antiques.

All tours begin at the Brandywine Valley Conference and Tourist Center, 300 Greenwood Rd., Kennett Square, PA 19348. Phone: 484-700-8550. Visitors are encouraged to arrive at 1:45 at the Tourist Center for a 2:00pm departure. The tour will take about 2 hours.
Payment is $20. for adults, $15. for children, to cover the cost the rental of the bus. Payment is due 4-5 days prior to the tour date. A check to the Kennett Underground Railroad Center (KURC) should be mailed to: 296 Kendal Dr., Kennett Square, PA 19348.
Tours will be held rain or shine - the bus is air conditioned and can accommodate up to 23 people. A minimal of 14 people is required. If the tour is cancelled, you will be contacted several days in advance & payment will be refunded. Volunteer guides are very well informed about the Underground Railroad in Kennett Square and environs.
The KURC guided bus tour will cover some of the history of the development of the Underground Railroad (URR), particularily as it relates to Chester County.
The tour will include:
- passing by 5-6 original abolitionist homes, with research-based descriptions of the people living in this important hub of the URR during the 1800's;
- a visit to the first street in Kennett Square and the integrated residents of that time, as well as the descendants of abolitionists that still live in the community;
- a tour of an 1801 Quaker Meetinghouse, with information about the local Quakers of that era and why many were so committed to abolitionism;
- a stop at the new Kennett Underground Railroad Center , located in the original home of abolitionist Eusebius Bernard;
NB: Information about the Underground Railroad from early times have focused largely on the white people who aided fugitives. Now acknowledged is the significant contribution made by African Americans. This tour will include some of that history especially as it relates to Chester County, PA.

The Chester County Art Association will debut two exhibits next week. The Allison Gallery will feature a solo show by Brett Anderson Walker, and the Huston Gallery will showcase a group exhibit titled "It's All in the Details." The fourth annual Save The Valley Music Fest will take place on Friday, Sept. 9 at World Cafe Live at the Queen in Wilmington. This year the event will showcase six bands – three of which are local high school bands that fought for their place on the stage at a sold-out event in April. Pets
We love animals too, but…. leave your pets at home. For the safety of your pet and others, pets are not allowed on the grounds of the Street Festival.

Admission
$3 per person (ages 12 and up). Proceeds from the sale of the admission wristbands goes toward the Mushroom Festival’s grant program. In 2016, the Mushroom Festival gave $85,000 to 47 non-profit organizations (click here to learn more).
Wristbands may be purchased in advance at The Mushroom Cap (114 West State Street, Kennett Square).
Purchase wristbands the days of the event at the Mushroom Festival parking lots (while waiting for the shuttle buses) or at the 11 various entrances to the Festival.
Getting here and getting around

During the Mushroom Festival many main roads are closed. Please follow posted detour signs. Expect delays in getting through town.
Satellite parking lots with shuttle bus service to the Festival are available. (click here to learn more).
There is limited street parking in Kennett Square during the Mushroom Festival. Finding a space can be difficult, which is why we recommend using the satellite parking lots.
Handicapped parking is available in the Genesis Parking garage at Linden Street and Union Street.
