More than a dozen local guest bartenders are hoping to serve up some profits on Jan. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Bbc Tavern and Grill in Greenville, De. Proceeds will help raise funds for three beneficiaries: Stroud Water Research Center, Quest Therapeutic Services Inc., and New Bolton Center.

The Chester County Fund for Women and Girls is launching a Young Professionals Group on Wednesday, Jan. 28. The opening reception for the "24/7 Project" will be held on Jan. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the New Gallery at West Chester University. Ceramic artist Rhoda Kahler and photographer Darcie Goldberg collaborated on a 24-hour artistic exploration of Boston, Atlantic City, Washington DC, Baltimore, New York City, Philadelphia and Providence, an odyssey that included their ceramics and photography materials so they could record their impressions. Considered to be among the finest of the Gilbert & Sullivan light-operas, 'Yeomen of the Guard' is a production of the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Chester County. This winter the Philadelphia Museum of Art will present Drawn with Spirit: Pennsylvania German Fraktur from the Joan and Victor Johnson Collection, an exhibition featuring bold, bright, and captivating drawings and manuscripts that celebrated important life events among the first European immigrants to settle in Southeastern Pennsylvania in the 18th century. The
exhibition represents the most comprehensive study of the last fifty years to be devoted to fraktur, one of the most iconic forms of American folk art. It celebrates the promised gift to the Museum of more than 230 works from this important collection, and will be accompanied by a landmark publication. The Johnson Collection of rare and exquisite works on paper will more than double the Museum’s distinguished holdings of fraktur, making it among the finest collections of its kind in the United States.
Once a month, Unionville-Chadds Ford Superintendent John C. Sanville hosts an informal session that includes information about the district’s programs, school board actions, curriculum, staff changes and other topics. The first Wednesday of the month, we will have our 18th century dance class. The class is open to all, novice to experienced. There is no fee and you are welcome with or without a partner. The classes run from 7:15 PM to approximately 9:00 PM and we adjourn for a short break and light refreshments midway through the evening. The dress is casual, modern clothing; period garb is definitely not required or encouraged at these lessons.
The classes are held each month at the "Barn" of the Chadds Ford Historical Society. The Barn is located approximately one half mile north of Route 1 at 1736 Creek Road (old Route 100) in Chadds Ford, PA. If you are driving north on Creek Road from Route 1, the Barn is on your left hand side directly across from the John Chad house. You should pass the Barn building, make a left into the parking lot, drive around the back of the building and enter through the large gray double doors between the round stone pillars. Come up the stairs to the main floor and turn right into the large meeting room where we practice.
The class has been taught each month for many years by Laura Bailey to the delight of her many students. Laura makes the trip from Lancaster each month to teach in Chadds Ford. She also teaches similar classes in Carlisle, PA and in New Castle, DE.
Recently the group has been meeting at a local restaurant for an "after dance" drink, dessert or dinner. If your schedule permits, please plan to join us after the dance for a pleasant social hour to unwind at mid-week.

In conjunction with Jamie Wyeth's major retrospective, visit two of the Brandywine River Museum's National Historic Landmark sites that have particular significance to his development as an artist. The N.C. Wyeth Studio, built by Jamie Wyeth's grandfather, is the place where the young artist studied painting with his aunt, Carolyn Wyeth. The Andrew Wyeth Studio is a restored schoolhouse that was the home of Andrew and Betsy Wyeth and their two sons, Nicholas and Jamie. Later, when the entire structure became Andrew Wyeth's studio, the building was the location of Jamie Wyeth's first studio. It is here that the artist painted important works including "Draft Age" and "Portrait of John F. Kennedy." Guided tours leave from the museum on Fridays and Saturdays from Feb. 6 to March 14 at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting. Limited tickets for this special experience are available at the museum on the day of the tour and cost $10 in addition to Museum admission ($5 for members).

Historic Kennett Square celebrates the month of March with the Art Stroll in the downtown this Friday! The public is invited to visit the unique, independently-owned shops, galleries, and restaurants and enjoy special exhibits, delicious food, and refreshments throughout the downtown.
The Kennett Symphony of Chester County is pleased to announce a
Junior Instrumental Competition for students in Grades 4-8. All instruments normally found in an orchestra or band are included.
There will be three (3) winners in the grades 4-6 category and three (3) winners in the grades 7-8 category, with prizes in each of $100, $50, and $25. Presentation of the prizes will be made at the Kennett Symphony’s Family Concert on March 8, 2015 at West Chester University’s Asplundh
Hall.
The winning selections will be based on auditions, to be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 in the auditorium of Kendal at Longwood, Kennett Square, PA. Each student will perform one intermediate (or higher) composition lasting no longer than five minutes. Memorization is encouraged, but not required.
All participants will receive feedback from the judges’ comments. This program is intended as a serious music student’s introduction to the competitive experience, with the opportunity to gain
knowledge and familiarity with the format of competitions
