A tribute to the great Spanish writer and poet Garcia Lorca by Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas, Rodrigo’s beloved guitar concerto, and Manuel de Falla’s “Love, the Magician” with the fiery talents of Marija Temo and flamenco dancer Ulrika Frank—all under the stars. Olé!
The show entitled "And the WORD is..." will be exhibited at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts (DCCA) from June 29 to October 14, 2012. It will be in the DuPont II gallery. The show is curated by J. Susan Isaacs. The exhibition explores various approaches to the use of religious language in contemporary art from the straightforward to the ironic. Artists include Martin Brief, Stephanie Kirk, Nicholas Kripal and David Stephens.

Celebrate the Fourth of July in style with the Brandywine Big Bang BBQ, sponsored by the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail. We'll be starting the celebration before the Fourth, the last weekend in June. Our new outdoor wine bar will be serving your favorite wines by the glass including Sangria Slushies, Spritzers and the drink of the month. Some of our favorite musicians will set up to play live contemporary music while you hang out with friends. Bring your own picnic or purchase delicious picnic foods from John Connell Catering such as beef brisket sandwich or crispy skinned chicken breast, jumbo shrimp and mango skewers, grilled vegetable salad, and bourbon sticky bun bread pudding for dessert. While you are here stock up with wines and drink recipes for your own Fourth of July BBQ. Wine tasting available in the cellar for $10. No admittance fee and no reservations required. YORKLYN, DE (June 2012) – TheMarshall Steam Museum will be adding some "steam" to the regular summer heat at its public Steamin' Day on Sunday, July 1, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Visitors of all ages can enjoy rides on the 1/8-size coal-fired trains of the Auburn Valley Railroad or in select historic automobiles, including a 1916 Rauch & Lang electric car that returned to operation this spring after mechanical restoration work. The 1897 Marshall Mansion will be open for tours, and entry to the Marshall Steam Museum (home to the world's largest operating collection of Stanley steam cars, plus two 1930s Packards) is included with all admission options. All will be treated to fresh (and free!) popcorn from a vintage steam-powered popper and a Firing
Up Demonstration to see how a Stanley is set in motion. A working Lionel electric trains display is also sure to delight, along with a hands-on exhibit Under the Hood: How a Stanley Steamer Works and a short film spotlighting Tom Marshall and his extraordinary collection of antique autos.
Auburn Heights Preserve, operated by the Friends of Auburn Heights Preserve in partnership with Delaware State Parks, is located at 3000 Creek Rd. (Rte 82) in Yorklyn, Delaware.

A fun way to learn history! Search historic artifacts for answers to clues provided upon arrival. Explore relics and traditions from the Revolutionary War. The scavenger hunt benefits the Brandywine Battlefield Park and is designed to promote both reading comprehension and a better understanding of our local history.
Recommended ages: 9 - 14 years old. Cost is $3 per child for each event (members free). Arrive anytime between 1pm - 3pm. Hunt takes about 45 minutes. Weather friendly - all events are indoors. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Family Art Day full of creative fun at Kennett Square’s Anson. B. Nixon Park
A variety of participatory art activities are planned for Saturday July 28th, at Anson B. Nixon Park’s Family Art Day.
The free event runs from 10 am to 3 pm, and offers many interactive activities for children. Creative activities include splatter paint, origami, watercolor, abstract painting, illuminated letters and masking tape trees. Other fun includes face painting, fairy story garden, and musical and dance performances. The Family Art Fest includes performances by West Chester Danceworks, Danza Tenochtli, Girl Scouts, KMC Dance and a drumming performance by Basement Culture.
The Family Art Day is sponsored by Rover Transportation; art stations will be facilitated by Greenable, Creative Center for the Arts, Willowdale Art Academy, Chester County Art Association, the Bayard Taylor Library and students from the Kennett Garage. There will be a drawing for free tickets to the Brandywine Art Museum.
Anson B. Nixon Park is located on North Walnut Street, off State Street in Kennett Square. The 106-acre park has sand and grass volleyball courts, hiking, walking, and fitness trails, basketball and tennis courts, a Frisbee (disc) golf course, six pavilions with picnic tables, grills, two ponds stocked with fish, a children’s playground, and a performance pavilion.
