Media Barracks
• A 33-year-old Lake Harmony, Pa., man was arrested for DUI in Chadds Ford Township on Sept. 7. The man, not identified in the report, was stopped for multiple traffic violations while driving southbound on Route 202. The driver was determined to be driving under the influence, and a stolen firearm was found in the vehicle.
Avondale Barracks
• Police said Maya F. Kulesza, 23, of Newark, was cited for her involvement in a two-car crash on E. Street Road in Pennsbury Township on Sept 23. According to the police report, Kulesza was traveling eastbound on E. Street Road when she attempted a left-hand turn into a gas station parking lot without yielding to oncoming traffic. A car heading west on Street Road struck Kulesza’s vehicle on the front bumper. No injuries were reported
• A 19-year-old man from Philadelphia, not named in the report, was arrested for drug possession following a traffic stop on the Kennett-Oxford Bypass in East Marlborough Township. The defendant was a passenger in the car that was stopped. No reason for the traffic stop was given.
• State police said they arrested a 34-year-old man from Oxford for drug possession following a traffic stop at the Kennett Oxford Bypass and N. Union Street on Sept. 28. No reason for the stop was mentioned in the report, and the arrestee was not named.
• Katlyn L. Lawson, 27, of Oxford, was cited for DUI following a one-car crash on Cedarcroft Road near Davemport Road in Kennett Township on Sept. 27 at 2:38 a.m. According to the report, Lawson was driving south on Cedarcroft when she attempted to negotiate a left-hand curve but was driving too fast for conditions. She lost control, police said, and then hit an embankment and flipped over. The report continued saying she appeared to be heavily intoxicated and that she admitted to having had alcohol.
• A second-grade student at Hillendale Elementary School was suspended on Sept. 22 after being found with a Swiss Army Knife. Staff members confiscated the knife, and disciplinary measures were enacted. There was no threat to other students or staff.
• Distracted driving was the cause of a one-car crash on Doe Run Road in West Marlborough Township on Sept. 23. Police said Sahara Suryanarayana, 29, of Coatesville, was driving south on Doe Run when she was distracted by her phone. The car left the roadway and went down an embankment.
Kennett Square Police Department
• Police said they arrested Erick Herrara-Bedolla, 23, of Avondale, on a variety of charges, including aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and burglary, following a Sept. 27 incident in the 100 block of Race Street. According to the report, officers were responding to a domestic and found Herrara-Bedolla outside with a knife in hand. Upon further investigation, the report said, they learned that the suspect had entered the apartment through a sliding door and injured two occupants with the knife.
