Pennsbury Township supervisors passed the 2018 budget last night with no tax increases. The budget is balanced with projected revenues and expenses at $1.64 million.
Township Manager Kathy Howley said property taxes would remain at 1.49 mills and the earned income tax will be 0.312 percent. A mill is a tax of $1 on every $1,000 of assessed property value.
As reported last month, the largest single revenue line — $275,000 — comes from the township property tax, while the largest expense comes from salaries. That figure is $2,167,825. Another $228,883 will go toward Longwood Fire Co.
Pennsbury Township has also paid off two debts from 2001 and 2004. Supervisor Charles "Scotty" Scottoline, who attended the meeting via telephone, noted the only debt remaining is the loan received to buy the 23 acres around the municipal building for open space in 2014.
Per state law, Pennsbury will hold its required organization meeting on Jan. 2. The meeting will be at 5 p.m., and the regular January meeting will begin right after the reorganization meeting concludes, according to Howley.
