Louis F. DiBartolomeo Sr.

Louis F. DiBartolomeo Sr., 92, died Friday, Aug. 30, at his residence. He was the husband of Louise Irace DiBartolomeo, who died in 2003, and with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

Born in Toughkenamon, he was the son of the late  Flavian and Elvera Basciani DiBartolomeo.

Louis was a mushroom grower operating Louis F. DiBartolomeo, Inc., retiring in 2006 after 61 years.

He served his country in the US Army during WW II, in Italy and Africa.

Louis was a lifetime member of the Italian American Club in Kennett Square and was a member of the VFW Post 5467 in Kennett Square, and the American Mushroom Institution.

He enjoyed swimming, diving, hunting, vegetable gardening, watching boxing, going to the shore with his family, raising hunting dogs and being with his family and friends.

He is survived by one son, Louis F. DiBartolomeo, Jr. of Landenberg; four daughters, Vera A. Taylor and her husband Jim of Landenberg, Anna D. Cline and her partner David Randall of Kennett Square, Denise F. Miller and her husband John of Lincoln University, and Maria D. Hamilton and her husband Jack of Kennett Square; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

He was predeceased by two dear daughters, Dolores A. DiBartolomeo and Nancy L. Taylor; four brothers, Marino, Peter, Nicholas, and Marino J. DiBartolomeo; two sisters, Phyllis Valentino and Jennie Martelli.

You are invited to visit with his family and friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, and again from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square. His Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at St. Patrick’s Church, 212 Meredith Street, Kennett Square. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
