Florencio Escobar Olivarez, age 68, of Toughkenamon, died Saturday, May 2, at Christiana Hospital in Newark. He was the husband of Margarita Pedroza Mondragon, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. Born in Cuahutenco, Almoloya de Alquisiras, Mexico, he was the son of the late Anacleto Escobar Hernandez and the late Maria Guadalupe Olivarez Velazquez.

Florencio worked for approximately 10 years at Basciani Foods in Avondale. He was a very hard worker, and he enjoyed his job.

In his spare time, he enjoyed talking to his grandchildren on FaceTime. He liked to draw, especially images of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Florencio will be missed for his kind heart and solidarity. Florencio always supported those in need.

He will be remembered for his strong character and perseverance. He met all the goals that he set for himself.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Florencio Escobar Pedroza, Margarita Escobar Pedroza, Ericka Escobar Pedroza, Angel Escobar Pedroza, and Yesika Escobar Pedroza; his grandchildren, Samuel, Daniel, and Yuritzy; and his siblings, Moises, Santiago, Trinidad, and Lucia. He was predeceased by his two sons, Daniel Escobar Pedroza and Jesus Escobar Pedroza.

You are invited to visit with Florencio Escobar’s family and friends from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday, May 8, at St. Rocco’s Catholic Church, 333 Sunnydell Road, Avondale, PA 19311. His funeral mass will follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will be held in Mexico.
