Police Log Oct. 30: Crashes, thefts

There’s been no official police incident report released at this time, but Chadds Ford Live was able to get some information about an accident on Route 1 on Friday, Oct. 25. The crash happened about 1:45 p.m. near Harvey Road. Police contacts said two vehicles, a blue Honda Odyssey and a white Mercedes SUV, collided and overturned. Occupants were entrapped. A total of six people were involved with one airlifted to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Police are investigating a report of extortion in Concord Township. A 41-year-old man from Glen Mills reportedly told police that an unidentified person was trying to extort him into sending money by threatening to send private explicit photos to the victim's family and friends.

Ike R. Walker, 19, of Aston, was cited following a one-vehicle crash on Route 1 in Chadds Ford on Sept. 29, according to police. The report said Walker was driving south in the center lane near Painters Crossing shortly before 4:30 p.m. The vehicle in front of him stopped suddenly, Walker reportedly told police. He then made a quick turn into the left lane, went over a curb, and then struck a metal sign that read Left Lane Must Turn Left.

Police said they arrested Adam Neumeister, 19, of West Chester, for shoplifting at the Target store on Hatton Drive in Concord Township on Sept. 19. The report said Neumeister, an employee, had stolen $1,739 in currency.

Avondale Barracks

A 40-year-old woman from East Marlborough Township reportedly told state police that she had been scammed out of $4,500 by someone on Facebook who claimed to be a financial advisor. The report said she first sent $2,500 to be invested in cryptocurrency, which was moved to an account controlled by the “advisor.” She did the same thing in August of 2024, providing $2,000 into an account controlled by the advisor. The victim reported the incident to police on Oct. 16.

Kennett Square Police Department

Ricardo Teta-Bautista, 26, of Kennett Square, was charged with simple assault, possession of a controlled substance, and other related charges following an altercation during which he allegedly open-hand smacked a female subject in the face causing redness and swelling on their left cheek, a police report said. The incident occurred on Oct. 19, at approximately 9:20 p.m., in the 300 block of Harvey Circle. Teta-Bautista was patted down before transportation to KSPD, and a controlled substance was located on his person in a folded-up dollar bill, according to the report.
