Police Log May 22: Shoplifting, reckless driving, theft

Media Barracks

Police said Anthony Yantz, 37, of Pottstown, was arrested on shoplifting charges, according to state police. The report said Yantz stole more than $300 worth of merchandise from Target on Hatton Drive in Concord Township on May 5.

State police from the Media barracks are investigating the reported theft of $8,000 worth of merchandise from LuluLemon in Concord Township on May 9. According to the report, police were notified when a customer phoned to say several women were seen carrying a large amount of merchandise past the point of sale. The theft was confirmed by store employees.

Police said they arrested two men from California for shoplifting at Target in Concord Township on May 10. Police identified the pair as Michael Barreto, 30, of San Bernardino, and Aaron Duquette, 19, Stevenson Ranch. According to the report, the two had purchased Apple9 watches, then swapped out the original; for fakes, and then tried to return the fakes as the original. Police added that Barreto was found to have a full extradition warrant out of Georgia for racketeering and theft. He also had another theft warrant out of Minnesota. Both warrants pertained to stealing in this same way from other Target stores, the report said.

Avondale Barracks

A 17-year-old boy was cited for reckless driving after losing control of the Kia Optima he was driving and crashed into a utility pole on Route 1 near Independence Way in Pennsbury Township on May 3. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, the police said, and he is suspected of sustaining a minor injury but he refused transport.

Kennett Square State Police

Borough police are investigating a report of a residential theft that happened on May 10. The incident happened in the 200 block of N. Union Street. The reporting party advised the incident occurred the previous night and there were three items stolen from their residence totaling $600.
