Borough police said they have filed a criminal complaint for filing a false report to law enforcement against James Thach. According to the police, on March 11, at 6:05 a.m., officers were dispatched to E. State Street and N. Union Street for an accident. Upon arrival, officers observed a white transit van that had struck a gray Silverado, which was legally parked in the 100 block of E. State Street. Contact was made with the subjects in the transit van, who said a female subject was operating the vehicle at the time of the accident. But the owners of the Silverado said they heard the crash and observed the female subject and a male subject — Thach — switch seats after the crash. Their statements were corroborated by a second subject, who observed the crash and said Thach was the operator of the vehicle and had switched seats with the woman. After further investigation, a criminal complaint was filed. The case is pending a preliminary hearing.
