The annual Red Clay Valley Cleanup is Saturday, March 23.

The next Red Clay Valley Cleanup is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 23. Volunteers will assemble at 8 at either the Ashland Nature Center in Hockessin, or Anson B. Nixon Park or the Kennett Area YMCA outdoor Pool in Kennett Square to help with clean-up of 98 miles of roads and streams in the Red Clay Valley watershed. More than 700 volunteers are needed for this effort, which is perfect for individuals, families, or school/civic groups. No experience necessary and all supplies will be provided. Groups over five must pre-register. Advance registration is preferred, but not required for individuals and groups under five. Walk ins welcome.

The Chadds Ford Township Easter Egg Hunt is this Sunday, March 17, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the playground between the municipal building and the wastewater treatment plant.

It’s jazz fest time at West Chester University.

The Wells School of Music at West Chester University will bring world-class entertainment and free live jazz to the surrounding community during the 34th annual Jazz Festival from March 20 – 23. All performances take place in the Madeleine Wing Adler Theatre, Swope Music Building and Performing Arts Center, 817 S. High Street, West Chester. On Saturday, many of the finest high school jazz ensembles from around the region will perform a short set and work with WCU faculty judges. This is the only ticketed event. The new Jamie Wyeth exhibit Jamie Wyeth: Unsettled opens this weekend at the Brandywine River Museum of Art. The exhibit traces a persistent vein of intriguing, often disconcerting imagery over Wyeth’s career. This major exhibition — organized by the Brandywine and five years in the making — will feature more than 50 works drawn from museum and private collections across the country that focus on the artist’s arresting, visceral imagery, revealing fascinating insight into Wyeth and the art of visual storytelling. Unsettled will be on view at Brandywine from March 17–June 9, before traveling to four additional art museums around the United States.

Yoga in the Gardens returns to Mt. Cuba Center on April 10.

Mt. Cuba Center is bringing back Yoga in the Gardens beginning Wednesday, April 10. Gusts can take a single class or sign up for all six sessions of whole series. These are after-hour sessions from 6-7 p.m. and cost $19 per session. Focus on stretching techniques that safely promote proper spinal position, balance, and joint health. No experience is necessary. Bring a yoga mat, and towel, and wear comfortable clothing. Register here.

In honor of Women’s History Month, the Chester County History Center is offering a walking tour Fierce: Women of West Chester on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, March 27-28, from 6-7:30 p.m. This 1 ½ hour walking tour will visit the homes and businesses of the women that shaped West Chester from colonial times to the present. Tour covers approximately 1.5 miles and lasts 90 minutes. Tour is entirely outdoors; sidewalks and terrain may be uneven. Event is rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. Service dogs are welcome; pets are not permitted on our public walking tours. The cost is $15.00 per person (20% discount with member code). Purchase tickets here.

Fireworks and fountain shows are coming back to Longwood Gardens and tickets go on sale next month — April 9 at 10 a.m. New for this year, all seating for fireworks and fountains shows is reserved. Reserved seating allows you to select your seat at time of purchase and then arrive to your seat placed and waiting for you — no need to bring your own chair. Tickets include all-day gardens admission. Shows are scheduled for July 3, July 20, Aug. 10, Sept. 1, and Sept. 28.
