Take a walking tour of the Underground Railroad in West Chester.

The Chester County History Center will hold walking tours of the Underground Railroad on Wednesdays July 19, 26, and Aug. 2, and again on Saturdays, July 15 and Aug. 5. The tour covers approximately 1.25 miles, lasts 90 minutes, and is entirely outdoors; sidewalks and terrain may be uneven. The event is rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. The cost is $15 per person, but there’s a 20 percent member discount with the code. Go here for tickets and more information.

Concord Township is holding its first-ever Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, July 29, from noon to 4 p.m. at the township park on Smithbridge Road. Entry fees are $50 per two-person team. Learn foraging skills at Longwood Gardens.

Discover edible plants at Longwood Gardens in-person conservation and stewardship class Foraging Summer’s Fields and Forests on Saturday, Aug. 5. Join expert forager and author Debbie Naha-Koretzky for a Longwood walk and embark on a firsthand discovery of edible plants from jewelweed to milkweed and mayapple to black walnut. Learn how to safely identify, collect, and prepare wild plants and delve into the guidelines and ethics of foraging, including how to forage legally and responsibly to protect the environment. Among this expert guidance, you’ll also gather recipes to try at home using edible wild plants. The class runs from 8-11 a.m. The cost is $69. Go here for more information and to register.

A free jazz concert at West Chester University.

Alumni of the Criterions Jazz Ensemble, the premiere jazz ensemble group out of West Chester University’s Wells School of Music, will take the stage for a public concert on Thursday, July 20, at 7 p.m., in the Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall, Philips Memorial Building, 700 S. High Street, West Chester. The concert is free and open to the public and is available via live stream at www.vimeo.com/wsom.

The Residence at Chadds Ford is holding a backpack and school supply drive to benefit Family Promise of Southern Chester County. All donations can be dropped off in the lobby at 1778 Wilmington West Chester Pike (Route 202). Donations are accepted through Aug. 31.
