Members of the Radley Run Country Club Board of Directors cut the ribbon to officially open the new club house.

It was three years in the making, but Radley Run Country Club has its new clubhouse. Members of the board held a brief ribbon cutting for the new building on June 29, almost a year and a half after breaking ground during a chilly day in March 2022. And that was a year and a half after the inception.

Board President John Cianciulli said the delay was due, not surprisingly, to COVID.

“There were supply chain problems and price fluctuations and challenges getting material,” he said.

But one of the advantages of the location of the new clubhouse is that all golf-related facilities are on the same side of the road.

“It’s a great experience for the golfer. They can come, visit the pro shop, and get their cart right here. The locker facilities are right here, a drink afterward, have dinner have lunch right here. It’s convenient and you don’t have to cross Country Club Road anymore,” Cianciulli said.

Tavern 1777 can seat 200 guests.

Nothing is decided about what to do with the old clubhouse yet but, “We’ll likely put a fitness center in. Maybe make it more of a performance center where we can have some targeted exercise and instruction for golf and for tennis, maybe even swimming.”

He added that fitness centers are, nationally, the number one requested amenity by country club members.

General Manager Michael Sofia referred to the new two-story building as having “first-class amenities with state-of-the-art locker room facilities.” Those amenities include new showers, new restrooms and a locker room attendant station.

“But the real crown jewel is the restaurant [Tavern 1777, which can seat 200 people] with an outdoor patio overlooking the 18th green. Spectacular views.”

There’s also a 24-seat bar and a 60-inch TV screen so guests can watch local sports teams, he said.

Sofia added that the impetus behind the new club was to “provide an amenity that the membership really deserves, a first-class, modern space where they can come and dine, breakfast, lunch, and dinner before or after a round before or after a day at the pool or on the tennis courts. We wanted to provide a space where they feel welcome and have that home away from home feel.”

As reported earlier, the clubhouse was the central project in what the club was calling the “Radley Run Renaissance.” The clubhouse is just one phase of the $10 million Renaissance project.
