UPDATE: The weather service has updated its forecast and is now saying accumulation could be 12-18 inches of snow. The first round of snow, from Sunday afternoon into evening is expected to be 2-4 inches. The heavier accumulation will begin later tonight and into the overnight hours and into Monday morning. A winter storm watch is in effect for the region beginning at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, and continuing through Monday and into early Tuesday morning. That according to the National Weather Service.
Precipitation forecasts indicate mostly snow with a mix of rain possible Sunday night. Western Delaware County and Southern Chester County could get up to 6 inches. The heaviest snow is likely during the day Monday when rates could exceed 1 inch per hour at times in the heaviest bands, the weather service said.
Wind speeds may reach as high as 35 to 45 mph, significantly reducing visibility and creating hazardous travel.
