The following animals are ready to be adopted from the Brandywine Valley SPCA in West Chester.

Petunia

Petunia is a 2-year-old looking to put down roots. Though she starts out shy, with a little love and understanding she loves to be pet and be near you. Petunia would love an adopter who can help her feel safe, loved, and confident. She is available for adoption for a fee you name through Sunday, May 5.

Mickey

Mickey is a 10-year-old looking for a soft place to enjoy his golden years. Despite his age, Mickey oozes affection, and is a perfect example of “Man’s Best Friend.” He would love a relaxed home where he can soak up as much love as possible. The Ivy Creek retirement community officially opened on Sunday. The official name, Ivy Creek Gracious Retirement Living boasts 142 rental rooms with 45 already leased and 70 more secured by a deposit.

Ivy Creek’s parent company is Hawthorn Senior Living, from Vancouver, Wash. Director of Operations Bob McConnell said the company chose Concord Township because it’s a great location for seniors with nearby shopping and medical facilities. In addition to the 142 rental units — from studios to two-bedroom apartments ranging in price from $2,495 to $4,800 per month — there is also a mini theater, three chef-prepared meals per day, housekeeping and laundry services.

On hand for the opening were Dominic Pileggi and John Gillespie, president and vice president of Concord Township Council. Gillespie read a proclamation naming Sunday, April 28, 2019, as Senior Citizen Day.
