Fountain performances at Longwood Gardens will now run through the end of October.

Longwood Gardens announced that its popular Main Fountain Garden performances are being extended through Oct. 31, according to a press release. The fountain season was originally slated to end September 30.

After an extensive two-year revitalization, the Main Fountain Garden returned in May with a season of celebration featuring fountain performances, concerts, and special events. The newly revitalized Main Fountain Garden has attracted nearly 500,000 guests to Longwood and received rave reviews since returning on May 27.

“The enthusiastic response our Main Fountain Garden has received has exceeded our expectations,” said Paul B. Redman, president and CEO.  “Our guests asked for more fountain performances and we are pleased that we can make that happen and continue to run our fountains through October.”

The culmination of the legacy and vision of Pierre S. du Pont, the garden combines classic landscape design with stunning architecture, innovative technology, and extraordinary fountains, including 1,719 swirling jets that can reach as high as 175 feet and 30 jets that combine water and flame.

The fountains will perform 12-minute shows daily at 11 a.m., 1, 3, and 5 p.m. through October. During the day, guests can experience the beauty of fall’s changing hues throughout Longwood’s 1,083 acres, and see Longwood’s Chrysanthemum Festival featuring one of the fall’s iconic favorites grown into extraordinary forms throughout the Conservatory. Young guests will delight in the Garden Railway, Pumpkin Playground, and Longwood’s whimsical tree houses, which invite exploration.

During extended evening hours on October 6, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28, guests can enjoy the chrysanthemum-filled Conservatory with Asian-inspired lanterns aglow, drop by the Beer Garden for tasty pub fare, live music, and Victory Brewing Company brews crafted using ingredients grown at Longwood. The fountains perform at 6:30 pm followed by the spectacular 30-minute Illuminated Fountain Performance set to music at 7:30 pm.  The Gardens are open from 9 am -9 pm on these special evenings. Admission is via timed tickets, which go on sale September 11. For more information, visit longwoodgardens.org.
