Two stores catering to excitable palates and empty bellies have opened their doors in Concord Township. Hills Seafood and Great Harvest Bread Co. share a site on the northwest corner of Brinton Lake Road and Route 1.
Hills’ opening, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on July 16, was delayed because the fire marshal hadn’t yet arrived to give final approval. Great Harvest, having opened two weeks earlier, was having it’s grand opening that day.
Darren and Debbie Henderson own Great Harvest. Darren Henderson said they specialize in whole grain breads and mill their own wheat at the shop.
“And we use no additives or preservatives,” he said. “We also sell breakfast and dessert breads.”

The bakery is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The phone number is 610-459-1499.
Bernie Grogan, proprietor at Hills Seafood, said his shop is the same one that had been in the Kennett Square area. He said they moved the store because they didn’t own the Kennett site.
Grogan said the main difference in the operation is that the Brinton Lake shop features more produce and more condiments.
Hills at Brinton Lake is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The phone number is 610-579-6010.
