It was a quick meeting in Birmingham Township Monday night with only a few voting items.
Supervisors awarded the snow removal contract to Page Excavation, the lowest of two bidders according to Police Chief and Roadmaster Tom Nelling. There was no specific fee for service, but there was a line of 14 items of varying amounts depending on what equipment would be needed.
The two members present, Vice Chairman Michael Shiring and Supervisor Dan Hill voted to continue having Chester County collect township property taxes. Shiring said the county has been doing that for years because the township has no tax collector. Hill said it was easier and more efficient to have the county collect the taxes. (Chairman Scott Boorse was away on vacation.)
Shiring and Hill also appointed Nelling as the deputy emergency management coordinator.
