Letter: Moro over Williams

Presidential election years always yield a mailbox stuffed with political mail, but if you’re like me, you’ve noticed nearly daily mailers depicting PA House 160th district GOP Rep. Craig Williams as a “bipartisan” and “moderate” representative who just wants to serve his purple home district.

Flash back to last spring when he was singing another tune during his failed run for PA Attorney General against fellow Republican Dave Sunday while also running concurrently for re-election to maintain his PA House seat. I might not personally agree with much that primary winner Sunday has to offer on policy, but I do agree with his statement during their spring debate about giving Rep. Williams credit where credit is due: “I admire his ability to run for so many offices at the same time.” Pennsylvania Republicans statewide agreed, and Williams received 30% of his own party’s primary vote.

Rep. Williams’ voting record on school vouchers, ghost guns and women’s healthcare is consistently far from “moderate,” and from his failed 2008 run for Congress to his disastrous pitch for PA Attorney General, it’s clear neither his head nor his heart are in this district.

Elizabeth Moro is a local small business owner who has demonstrated her commitment to the priorities of our neighbors. From her involvement in the bipartisan Neighbors for Crebilly initiative to preserve historic open space to her unequivocal support of our public schools, Elizabeth is the candidate who will serve the interests of residents who call the 160th home.
