Police Log May 23: Sobriety checkpoints, Accidents, DUIs

Pennsylvania State Police will conduct sobriety checkpoints during the Memorial Day weekend, May 25 through 28. Troopers will stop vehicles at selected locations to observe drivers for displays of drug or alcohol impairment.

• A West Chester woman was transported to Chester County Hospital with suspected injuries following a two-vehicle accident on Route 1 at Parkersville Road in Pennsbury Township. The accident happened May 15. Police said the injured woman, identified as Rebecca M. Doyle, was driving south on Parkersville when, after stopping for the stop sign at the intersection, attempted a left-turn onto Route 1 and collided with an oncoming truck. The report said Doyle was cited.

• A two-car crash on Lenape Road, east of Route 926, in Pennsbury Township on May 13 led to one driver being cited and the other being warned. Two people, one driver and her passenger, were believed to have been injured but were not transported, the report said. According to police, Katherine, G. Rhea, 44, of Limerick, driving a 2010 Honda Accord north on Route 52, was turning right onto Route 926 behind a Toyota Corolla driven by Cecilia O. Shipe, 25, of Bridgeport. Police said Shipe was also turning right at the intersection and was struck from behind by Rhea. Rhea was cited for following too closely while Shipe received a warning for not being able to show financial responsibility. Police said they suspected Shipe and her passengers, 25-year-old Elias E. Sepulveda, of being injured but neither was taken to the hospital.
