Police Log Feb. 5: Thefts, vandalism, drugs

Pennsylvania State Police

Media Barracks

Police said two men dressed in black stole two 8-packs of Fireball and Bud Light seltzer from the Wawa on Naamans Creek Road on Jan. 11.

State police said they arrested a 16-year-old boy from Chester for stealing $78 worth of apparel from Target in Concord Township on Dec. 24.

Police are now reporting that Lululemon in Concord Township was the victim of shoplifting twice in one day. On Nov. 11, police said, two women took $2,550 worth of clothing from the store at about 3:30 p.m., then at 8:20 p.m. that day, another woman took $3,000 worth of clothing.

Avondale Barracks

Police are reporting a case of vandalism on Northbrook Road in East Marlborough Township sometime between 5 p.m. on Feb. 1 and 2 p.m. on Feb. 2. The homeowner’s walkway lights had been intentionally damaged with what appeared to be a cylindrical object, like a baseball bat, the report said.

Police are investigating a theft in Pocopson Township. The incident, reported on Jan. 22, involves an unknown person using the victim’s information to purchase $3,000 worth of furniture from Raymour & Flanigan.

Julia E. May, 19, of Cochranville, was cited after she lost control of her vehicle while trying to avoid hitting a deer on Upland Road in West Marlborough Township on Jan. 28, police said. She ran off the road, struck a fence, and then left the scene, according to the report.

A 56-year-old woman from Smyrna, Del., who was being transferred from the West Chester Police Department to Chester County Prison was arrested while already in custody for having a bag of suspected methamphetamines after it fell out of her bra band, police said. She was being transferred because of a failure to appear warrant out of the Avondale barracks.

State police are investigating the theft of $495 worth of hygiene products from the Giant in East Marlborough Township on Dec. 15.

Kennett Square Police Department

Borough police said Nathaniel Tyree Curtis is in custody after an arrest warrant was issued for him on Oct. 1 of last year. On Dec. 28, 2023, the Kennett Square Police Department was alerted to an attempted fraudulent deposit against Kennett Square Borough’s internal financial accounts. The report said the criminal investigation division determined that a day earlier, Curtis deposited an altered and counterfeit check valued at $29,950 into his business account at an ATM in Philadelphia. Cellular records were obtained, which show Curtis at the ATM where the check was deposited at the time of the deposit. The internal controls of the borough prevented any financial loss to the borough, the report said.
