Food historian Marc Meltonville talks about 18th-century beer making during a frigid Saturday morning in the old kitchen of the Trimble House in Concord Township.

 Registration is now open for Pennsylvania State Police Troop K Camp Cadet. The camp will be taking place from Sunday, July 26 through Friday, July 31 at the Valley Forge Military Academy and College. Camp Cadet is residential and designed to familiarize our cadets with the functions of law enforcement, learn self-discipline, make new friends, and work as part of a team. It’s neither recreational nor disciplinary. Meals, lodging, and programs are provided at no cost to the applicant except for a $45 fee paid by the cadet to help defray the cost of uniforms.  Magic and comedy come together at Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center on Friday, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m. when Chris Capehart hits the stage. Capehart has more than 40 years of performance experience and is one of the few American magicians to perform at the Magic Circle in England. Chester County Historical Society’s 38th annual Antiques and Art Show is March 14 and 15 with a March 13 preview party. Also, wear your crown and pearls on the 15th and enjoy a program presented by Jeff Groff, the estate historian of Winterthur and curator of the Downton Abbey and Crown exhibit, who will be discussing our fascination with the royal family. The event is at the Church Farm School in Exton. General admission on the 14th and 15th is $15. The 6 p.m. preview party reception on the 13th is $150 and the 5 p.m. VIP preview party reception is $200. Go here for tickets.
