Sunday, May 2, is Train Day at The Marshall Steam Museum.

• The Marshall Steam Museum kicks off its summer season this Sunday, May 2, with Train Day, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Train enthusiasts of all ages are invited to a celebration of railroading, with rides on the 1/8-size Auburn Valley Railroad; a variety of train-centered activities, including a very special Gauge 1 live steam layout; entry to the Marshall Steam Museum, with its 1930s working Lionel electric trains display and special railroad-themed exhibits; fresh steam-popped popcorn from our vintage popper; and more. Because everyone is a kid on Train Day, all pay the usual child rate of $8/person (free for members). Tickets may be purchased in advance online or by calling the Friends of Auburn Heights office at 302-239-2385.

• A reminder, this Saturday, May 1, is the Chadds Ford Residents’ Association Cleanup Day. Volunteers are asked to meet at the township building at 8 a.m.

• Seven branches of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine are hosting open houses this Saturday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Each of the branches will feature unique offerings. Most local, the Kennett branch, at 101 Race Street in Kennett Square, will offer lunch at its wood-fired pizza food truck, and visitors can take in personal training, pickleball, pottery, and wellness circuit demos. Kids can make crafts while adults get their groove on in our bilingual group exercise classes in both Spanish and English. People can also swim in the pools or let our trained staff help you determine your swimming abilities.

Make a terrarium at the Chester County Historical Center this Saturday, May 1.

• This Saturday, May 1, is a time for people who are Smitten with Succulents as the Chester County Historical Center offers a terrarium workshop. Class sizes are small, and people must wear masks. The cost is $60. To reserve a space, visit the website.

• Beginning this Sunday, May 2, and for the first Sundays of each month into October, the Center for Creative Arts in Yorklyn turns its field into an outdoor marketplace for food and handcrafted gifts. CCArts Program Director Jennifer Hartz refers to the marketplace as a “farmers’ market meets artisan show.” Times for the event are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• The Grand is bringing back drive-in movies at Bellevue State Park in Wilmington beginning this Saturday. The series runs May 1, 22, and 29, June 12, and July 3. The May 1 movie is “Chicago: The Musical,” starring Richard Gere, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Renee Zellweger. Showtime is 8:30 p.m. The cost is $15 per person — up to four people per car, plus fees and includes a bag of popcorn. Children younger than 12 are free.
