First snow of the season approaching

The National Weather Service is predicting two to three inches of snow for the region tonight through early Friday.

Snow is forecast to develop across eastern Pennsylvania, northeastern Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey this evening, generally after the evening commute.

Light snow is expected to continue overnight and it should end around daybreak on Friday.

The snow will end in most of the area before Friday morning’s commute, but may linger until 7 or 8 a.m. in New Jersey’s coastal counties.

Another snow event is possible across the Delmarva and southern New Jersey on Saturday. This system is currently forecast to track far enough to our south and east to spare us from significant impacts. However, there is the potential for a more significant event if the system’s track shifts closer to the coast.

Temperatures will become gradually colder through the end of the week with sub-freezing temperatures expected from Friday night through Because of the snow, hazardous travel conditions are possible tonight and early on Friday.

NELLY

Hi, my name is Nelly, and I am a handsome 1-year-old who arrived at the Brandywine Valley SPCA as a stray. I was in a foster home for a while where I was given lots of love and extra attention, but now I am ready for my forever home. I am a little shy at first, but once I warm up I am a purr machine. I love to purr, be petted, and give head butts. I also love to play. I would love to have a furry sibling to romp around with. I get along with cats and dogs. Since I am a little nervous sometimes given my outdoor upbringing, I would thrive most in a quieter environment or with older children. Come to our West Chester shelter and meet me today.

MYRRH

Hello my name is Myrrh and I’m a 3-year-old neutered orange and white male domestic shorthair. I arrived as a stray with two other cats on Dec. 14. The nice people of the SPCA have been taken such great care of me. I love to play, and I love to give affection, I even like to crawl up on to their shoulders to give them a hug. I seem to be okay around other cats and children, but I’m not sure about dogs yet. I’m looking for a loving family to bring me home and rub my belly forever. Will you be the one?

GORBY

Hello! My name is Gorby, and I am a gorgeous 7-year-old, stunning brown and black female tabby who arrived at the Brandywine Valley SPCA after being transferred from another shelter. While my looks are striking, it is my personality that takes the cake.I am outgoing and friendly, love to be petted and wrap myself next to you. I have an amazing purr that shows my true happiness. I’m spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations, so please come meet me. With my affable and jovial nature, I just know I will fit right in with your family.

DUKE

Howdy all. I’m Duke, an adult Lab mix who came in as a stray. Unfortunately, the shelter doesn’t have any prior information about me, but they have been taking great care of me. I love to be around people, and due to my size should be with older children. I am almost 80 pounds, so I could knock a little one over. I seem to be okay with other dogs, but should meet them before going home with them. I love going for walks and seem to be housetrained. If I could have one wish for the New Year it would be to bring me a new family who will love me. Will you be the one?

BLINKY

Hello, I’m Blinky, a 3-year-old male terrier mix who loves to be around people. I am happy, outgoing, very chill and loving. I prefer a home without other animals, but I make up for in love for you. I am energetic and would love to go on walks. I am dog and kid friendly but should meet them both before going home with them. I am neutered, microchipped and ready to go home with you. Please come see me today and I will show you how much I love to give kisses.

HUGS

Hi, my name is Hugs. I’m a sweet 2-year-old terrier mix who arrived at the Brandywine Valley SPCA as a stray. My name is perfect for me because I love nothing more than hugs and snuggles. I’m super smart too; I know sit, stay, paw, down and I even roll over sometimes. When I arrived at the BVSPCA it looked like I had a rough go of it for a while, but my scabs and scars only tell part of my story, which I know will only get better from today on. I am spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations, so if you are looking for a friendly girl with lots of love to give, then I am the girl for you.
