Police Log Sept. 10: Strangulation, DUI, crashes

Police said they arrested Michael Gucciardi, 41, of Glen Mills, on charges of strangulation following a domestic dispute in Concord Township. The report said the female victim had multiple injuries to her face, head, neck, and back, and that she had been strangled and struck multiple times.

Arthur Southard, 72, and Maryellen Southard, 73, both from Aston, were arrested on DUI charges, according to a police report. Trooper said they were responding to a report of an unconscious man in a vehicle on Kirk Road. Both adults were arrested. The incident took place on Aug. 25 at 7:57 p.m.

One person was killed in an accident on Route 1 near Painters Crossing Condominiums on Aug. 30. Brad Rhoades, 52, of Coatesville, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to police, Richard D. Harley, 57, was leaving the c0ndos and was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto southbound Route 1 but failed to make sure there was proper clearance and pulled out into the path of Roades. A passenger on Rhoades’ bike, Amy M. Rhoades, 55, was air-evaced to Jefferson Hospital with serious injuries.

Avondale Barracks

Police said they arrested a 22-year-old woman from Kennett Square on a DUI charge following a traffic stop on Aug. 30 at Bayard and Rosedale Road. They said the stop was made after the driver was observed making multiple traffic violations. The arrest was made at 2:09 a.m.

State police said Luis M. Sedano Garduno, 40, was injured in a motorcycle truck accident on Lenape Road in Pocopson Township on Sept. 6 at 7:20 a.m. According to the police report, Sedano Garduno and the other driver were traveling north on Lenape when Sedano Garduno tried to pass the truck that was turning left into the motorist’s driveway. He tried to stop, but slid off the bike and was run over by the truck’s rear tire. He was transported to Paoli Hospital for treatment.

A 17-year-old girl was cited for her involvement in a two-car crash in East Marlborough Township on Sept. 4, police said. The accident happened on East Street and Schoolhouse roads. According to the report, both cars were traveling west on East Street Road when the girl rear-ended the other vehicle as it slowed to make a left-hand turn onto Schoolhouse Road.
