PennDOT has announced the following road projects, which are weather-dependent and could affect drivers in the greater Chadds Ford area during the week of May 8 to May 14. Motorists are urged to allow extra time if they are traveling through one of the construction zones. Work schedules are subject to change.
• Beginning Wednesday, May 12, motorists should expect daytime moving lane closures along six miles of Route 1 from Creek Road to Route 202 in Chadds Ford Township. Other work will include sections of Route 1 in Concord Township to Pole Cat Road and also includes pavement restoration in Pennsbury Township. PennDOT will mill, overlay, and rehabilitate the existing pavement; perform concrete patching and concrete base repair as needed; construct new concrete curbed median; install new pavement markings, rumble strips, delineators, and signs; and upgrade guide rail and curb ramps. The work will be done from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, May 12-14.
• PennDOT-contracted work crews will also be repairing potholes along Route 202 in Concord, Chadds Ford, and Thornbury townships.
• Route 3, Gay Street, in West Chester, will be closed during daytime hours due to utility work from through July 1. Utility work will also force daytime closure of Gay Street, between Walnut and Church streets in West Chester, through July 1. Detours will be posted.
