
Dr. Carl Wendell Lofland Jr., DDS, 95, of Kennett Square, died peacefully on Nov. 4. A lifelong resident of Kennett Square, Wendell was a proud graduate of Franklin and Marshall College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He served in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala., before returning home to open his dental practice in Kennett Square, where he was a respected member of the business community. Wendell loved spending summers at the shore in Avalon, NJ, and was known for his dry sense of humor, long walks, and practical nature. A devoted dog lover, he never failed to stop and greet every dog he met.

Wendell is survived by his wife, Marilyn Lofland; his children, Marcie (Karl) Jorgensen and Rex Lofland; his grandchildren, Erik Jorgensen, Kyle (Courtney Rodgers) Jorgensen, Dylan (Eric Zullo) Lofland, Ryan Lofland, and Kelsey Jorgensen; and his great-grandchildren, Romeo Jorgensen and Crew Zullo.
There will be a small private memorial service to celebrate his life, and instead of flowers, donations can be sent to www.parkinson.org, spca.org, or Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org
