So what happens if you hold an election and virtually no one shows up? That was the state of the 2026 primary election. According to Chester County’s website, there was only a 20.4 percent voter turnout, while Delaware County reported a 20.04 percent turnout. All precincts in the greater Chadds Ford reported low volume.
However, the turnout was uneventful since none of the races were contested.

Running for state representative in the 160th Legislative District in November, Democrat Elizabeth Moro will challenge incumbent Republican Craig Williams. Moro received 3,381 votes, while Williams garnered 2,787 in Delaware County. In Chester County, Williams had 1,407 votes, while Moro had 2,295.
Democrat May Gay Scanlon earned the right to run again for the 5th Congressional District, while Republican Nick Manganaro will face her in November.
Also earning a spot on the November ballot for the 6th Congressional District was incumbent Democrat Chrissy Houlihan. She will face Republican Marty Young in November.
In the 158th state Legislative District, incumbent Democrat Christine D. Sappey will run again. There were no Republicans on the primary ballot for that seat.
In the 167 Legislative District, Republican Joe Lewis will challenge incumbent Democrat Kristine Howard.
Josh Shapiro, Democrat, will run for another term as governor. He will face Republican Stacy Garrity in the general election.
Again, none of the above races were contested. All election results must be certified by the board of elections before being declared official.
