New weekly event blends craft beer, local flavor, and riverfront relaxation in Mortonville
MORTONVILLE, PA — Brandywine Outfitters, long known as a hidden gem for outdoor recreation along the Brandywine Creek, is now making headlines for something new: beer.
Every Sunday from April through October, the riverside park transforms into the “Brothers on the Brandywine Beer Garden,” a lively community gathering that combines craft beer, food trucks, live music, and family-friendly fun—all set against the scenic backdrop of Chester County’s Brandywine Valley.
The seasonal event is a collaboration between Brandywine Outfitters and Brothers Kershner Brewing Co., a local craft brewery founded by the Kershner family—who grew up just a half-mile from the park. Their connection to the land gives the event a nostalgic, hyper-local flavor that resonates with longtime residents and new visitors alike.
“Bringing our brews back to the place where we learned to swim, fish, and explore is incredibly meaningful,” said one of the Kershner brothers. “This is more than just a beer garden—it’s a celebration of our roots.”
Held each Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the event features:
-
Fresh Pints & Ciders from Brothers Kershner Brewing
-
Rotating Food Trucks with something new each week
-
Live Local Music & Entertainment including bands, axe throwing, and kids’ activities
-
Vendor Market with artisan crafts and local goods
-
Riverside Relaxation with swimming, tubing, and shaded spots for lounging
The atmosphere is intentionally welcoming. Kids are encouraged (pets are not), and visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets to enjoy the riverside vibe. The beer garden has become a Sunday tradition for many, especially families and groups seeking an easygoing outing with plenty of space and natural beauty.
Brandywine Outfitters itself spans 26 acres and offers canoe and kayak rentals, group camping, ziplines, an arboretum, and adventure programs for schools, scouts, and corporate retreats. But the Sunday beer garden is quickly becoming one of the park’s most talked-about attractions.
“This weekly event really captures the spirit of the Brandywine Valley,” said a spokesperson for Brandywine Outfitters. “It’s local, laid-back, and full of heart. Whether you come for the beer, the music, or the river, you leave feeling part of something special.”
The event also supports broader goals of community revitalization in Chester County, offering a platform for small businesses, musicians, and artisans to connect with local audiences in a natural setting.
Reservations for watercraft and group activities are still encouraged, but the Sunday beer garden operates on a walk-in basis.
