
• Longwood Gardens has released the schedule for its summer performance series. Performances kick off on May 30 with The Savoy Company performing The Mikado by Gilbert and Sullivan. On June 5 it’s BalletX. For a full list of summer performances, go here.
• There’s going to be a Park Day at the Brinton Run Preserve on Oakland Road in Chadds Ford Township. The day is part of an American Battlefield Trust Park Day. The preserve is looking for volunteers to get their hands dirty. Planned activities include tree and shrub plantings, maintenance on previously planted trees, as well as maintenance on trails, and the removal of invasive species. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 26. Volunteers are advised to dress appropriately and to bring gloves and hand tools. Go here for more information.

• The Chadds Ford Historical Society kicks off its 2025 lecture series on Thursday, March 6, at 7 p.m. when Anne E. Krulikowski, presents a talk: Joseph Brinton’s ‘Celebrated’ Serpentine Stone: How a Chester County Stone Became a Multi-Regional Gilded Age Fad. The cost is $10, payable at the door. • The Chester County Community Foundation is holding its annual Sweet Charity fundraiser this coming Tuesday, March 4 at the Downingtown Country Club from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Community Foundation brings together donors and beneficiaries of charitable funds to create lasting legacies that truly make a difference. The event will include a dessert competition between the finest restaurants, bakeries, and caterers in Chester County. Ticket prices start at $125. Go here to register. • The Brandywine Museum of Art continues its exhibit, Tell Me a Story Where the Bad Girl Wins: The Life and Art of Barbara Shermund. Shermund (1899–1978) is considered an unheralded early master of gag cartooning, whose career spanned the heyday of American magazines from the 1920s–1960s. She was one of the first women cartoonists at The New Yorker. In 1950, Shermund was among the first three women to be accepted as a member of the male-dominated National Cartoonist Society.
• A reminder that the 76th Chadds Ford Elementary School Art Show and Sale is scheduled for Saturday, March 15. More than 60 artists will have their works on display, 19 of them are new to the show. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
