Media Barracks
Pennsylvania State police from the Media barracks will conduct a sobriety checkpoint this weekend, March 15-17. Police didn’t say where.
• Police arrested a 32-year-old Kennett Square man for shoplifting $123 worth of merchandise from the East Marlborough Walmart on March 10. The report did not mention the suspect’s name.
• A 39-year-old man from Norristown was arrested for DUI in East Marlborough Township on March 10. The arrest came after police observed the vehicle swerving numerous times on northbound Route 1 near Bancroft Road at 12:26 a.m.
• Police said Harry T. Myland, 91, was cited for his involvement in a two-car crash on N. Union Street in East Marlborough Township on Feb. 28. According to the press release, Myland was driving south on West Doe Run Road approaching the roundabout, but failed to maintain his proper lane of travel and struck a car heading north on Union.
• On March 4, state police arrested a 26-year-old man from Coatesville for DUI in Kennett Township. Police said the arrest came after a traffic stop at the intersection of Lenape Road and Route 1 in Kennett Township at 1:32 a.m. on March 4. The report did not give a reason for the stop but did say the driver showed signs of impairment after police made contact with him.
• Police arrested a 41-year-old man from Norwood in East Marlborough Township for drug possession on March 7. The police report said troopers initiated a traffic stop 2005 Saturn Vue at 11:30 p.m. on E. Baltimore Pike. No reason for the traffic stop was given, nor was the name of the suspect released. 
Kennett Square Police Department
Borough police said Daniel Rizzolo, 42, of Folcroft, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, simple assault and other related offenses, following an altercation during which he allegedly pushed and strangled a female subject until she felt a restriction of blood flow and oxygen. The incident occurred on March 4, at approximately 4:13 p.m., in the 300 block of S. Broad Street, Kennett Square. The report said that upon arrival, police were immediately met with an aggressive and hostile Daniel Rizzolo, who threw an unknown object at officers. Rizzolo was taken into custody and transported to Chester County Prison where he was held for a preliminary arraignment by the on-call judge.
