Celeste M. Gentile

Celeste M. Gentile (Nee Perpetua), age 89, Passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side. Celeste was raised and educated in Chester and was a 1950 graduate of Chester High School. She and her husband Victor resided in Brookhaven where she raised her family for more than 40 years. After retirement, Celeste and Victor moved to Sea Isle City, NJ where she lived for 20 years before recently returning to Garnet Valley. Celeste retired from The University of Pennsylvania Hospital after more than 40 years of service. She was a former member of Our Lady of Charity in Brookhaven, St. Joseph’s Church in Sea Isle City, and most recently St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Glen Mills. She enjoyed sewing, fishing with her husband Victor, traveling, her time at the Jersey Shore, and most importantly the time she spent with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

She was the daughter of the late Charles & Lillian (Palombo) Perpetua and the mother of the late Dr. Annette Gentile Viola (2021).
Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Victor R. Gentile, her son Victor M. Gentile (Eileen), sister Louise McHenry, Son in Law Jeff Viola. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Nicholas, Jennifer, Matthew, Jonathan, and great-grandchildren Teagan and Axel. Also survived by many special nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Thursday, April 7, from 9:30-10:15 a.m. at St Cornelius Church, 160 Ridge Road, Chadds Ford. Her funeral mass follows at 10:30. Burial will be at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.

Memorial donations may be in Celeste's name to UNICEF to help the children in Ukraine at www.unicefuse.org, as well as the UNHCR to help Ukrainian refugees at www.unhcr.org/en-us/www.habitat.org and any other charity that is assisting with relief efforts for Ukraine.
