• Westtown Township is kicking off America 250 on Tuesday, Jan. 27, with “Voices of the Founding Fathers.” The presentation, by local historian Dave Walter, includes an actor giving dramatic recitations of Patrick Henry’s famous “Give Me Liberty” speech and Thomas Jefferson’s “Declaration of Independence”. The public is invited to attend this free event. It will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Spellman Hall, 10 W. Pleasant Grove Road on Route 202 from 10-11 a.m.

• The Brandywine Museum of Art is continuing its exhibition of Cropsey, Wyeth, and The American Landscape Tradition through May 31. This is the first-ever museum display of a monumental, rediscovered masterwork by the leading Hudson River School artist Jasper Francis Cropsey (1823–1900).

• Delaware County Symphony presents A Celebration of Black History with Sound and Sight on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 3 p.m. In honor of Black History Month, the Chamber Series of Delaware County Symphony is presenting a combination of theatrical performance with classical string quartet music. Historical interpreter and educator, Dr. Daisy Nelson-Century, will bring Harriet Tubman to life with accompanying music by pioneering African American composer, Florence Price. The program unfolds in five theatrical acts: each paired with one movement from Price’s Five Folksongs in Counterpoint for String Quartet. Audiences will experience the extraordinary courage of Harriet Tubman through this unique blend of storytelling and music. Tickets start at $15 and are available here.

• It’s almost two months away, but the Chadds Ford Elementary School PTO is gearing up for the 77th Chadds Ford Elementary School Art Show and Sale scheduled for Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. There are eight new artists among the 77 total participating artists. New this year: Two Artisan Market spaces in adjacent classrooms where potters, sculptors, woodworkers, jewelers, and more can showcase their work with more space and their own setup infrastructure. This one-day event allows patrons to purchase art, jewelry, wooden items, glass designs, and more directly from the more than 70 local and regional artists. Admission is free and open to all ages.
