Mt. Cuba Center holds its Wildflower Weekend on April 29-May 1.

It’s a Wildflower Weekend at Mt. Cuba Center from Friday, April 29 through Sunday, May 1. Each day features a variety of activities including family yoga, storytime, kid-friendly crafts, live music, food trucks, guided tours, and a native plant sale. The event is rain or shine. Timed tickets are required and are available here. Adult admission is $15; $8 for kids 6-17; free for children younger than 6.

Samuel Kim, the Delaware County Symphony’s 2022 Youth Concerto Competition winner performs Sunday, May 1, at 3 p.m. as part of the symphony’s American Journeys" Symphony Concert.

The Delaware County Symphony presents "American Journeys" Symphony Concert on Sunday, May 1, at 3 p.m. The concert will be held at the Meagher Theater, on the campus of Neumann University in Aston. This is the fourth and final symphony concert of the season and features the 2022 Youth Concerto Competition winner, Samuel Kim, performing Joseph Haydn’s cello concerto No. 1 in C major. Tickets may be purchased online or at the box office.

The Chester County History Center is partnering with Bartlett Tree Experts and the Humphry Marshall Trust to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Humphry Marshall, a friend of Benjamin Franklin and the namesake of Marshallton, Chester County. To kick off this year’s celebration, CCHC is hosting a native tree giveaway on Saturday, April 30, sponsored by Bartlett Tree Experts and the Humphry Marshall Trust. Visitors can sign up for the free sapling trees at CCHC Humphry Marshall Trees. This year’s Humphry Marshall 300th Anniversary events will include town tours, speaking engagements, and a special celebration in Marshallton.

Former NBA player Chris Herren talks about addiction on April 27 at Kennett High School

The Unionville-Chadds Ford and Kennett Consolidated School districts have teamed up to welcome former NBA player Chris Herren to the communities to speak on his personal journey from addiction to sobriety. His presentation, Prevention Starts with All: The Chris Herren Story will be held on April 27, at 7 p.m. in the Kennett High School Auditorium (100 E South St., Kennett Square, PA).  This event is designed for parents and is open to the community. Students at both Unionville and Kennett High Schools will have assemblies with Chris Herren during the school day. This event is for adults only and they must register here.

COSA — Delaware County Council and the Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging — will host the Celebrate Age Senior Living Expo at Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack in Chester, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, May 6. The theme for the expo is Age My Way an opportunity for all of us to explore the many ways older adults can remain in and be involved with their communities. Guests to the expo will be able to “Ask a Pharmacist” from PerformRx questions regarding medications. In addition, SEPTA will be available to assist with obtaining/renewing a SEPTA Senior Fare Card, which enables senior citizens aged 65 and older to ride free on all Transit Routes and Regional Rail in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. If interested in obtaining a Senior Fare Card, please bring proof of age.

Delaware Theatre Company announces Brighton Beach Memoirs. Neil Simon’s classic coming-of-age comedy runs May 11–22, 2022. Tickets are on sale now, starting at $29 for adults and $20 for students, and can be purchased online at delawaretheatre.org or by calling the Box Office at 302-594-1100.
