Saturday, Sept. 11, is the 244th anniversary of the Battle of Brandywine.

The Chadds Ford Historical Society will hold a battle reenactment Saturday, Sept. 11, commemorating the 244th anniversary of the Battle of Brandywine. Three timed skirmishes will take place throughout the day. Additionally, reenactors, camp followers, demonstrators, and other historians will engage with visitors. Live music, food, and beverages will be available.

A suicide awareness motorcycle ride is planned for Sept. 12. Do It for Dave is in memory of Dave Taylor Jr. Riders meet up at 9:30 a.m. at Taylor’s Service and the ride to Conowingo dam begins at 10. There will also be an event at Pennsbury Park beginning at 1 p.m. with live music, food for purchase, and guest speakers about suicide awareness, survivor impact, and mental health. There will also be a silent auction.

Opera Philadelphia will present a free screening of La Traviata on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 8 p.m. An extension of this summer’s popular Arts on Center Stage series, this one-night-only “Opera in the Park” presentation will be shown on the big screen at Dilworth Park. Admission is free for guests of all ages.

See Mt. Cuba Center in a new light – no light, that is! Embark on a guided Night Hike to experience the stars and sounds of our natural lands after dark. Listen as the night comes alive with the chatter of owls, frogs, crickets, and maybe even a fox or two. Learn about the nocturnal animals that call our natural areas home and how to spot and listen for them once the sun goes down. This tour is BYOF (bring your own flashlight). The hikes are scheduled for Fridays, 7:30-9 p.m. Sept.10 and 17, and Oct.15 and 22 from 6:30-8 p.m. For information and tickets, go here.

The Chester County Art Walk is Sept. 18.

The Chester County Art Association is excited to be partnering with East Goshen Township Parks & Recreation to bring the Chester County Art Walk to the community on Sept. 18, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The event will be held at the East Goshen Township building and features 30-plus artist vendors. community partners, food and music.
