Police log April 1: Armed robbery, theft, crashes

Police arrested two people on armed robbery charges in Chadds Ford Township on March 14. Police identified the suspects as William O'Donnell, 37, of Chadds Ford, and Karol Montalvo-Hernandez, 39, of Greenbelt, Md. The report said the couple robbed two people at gunpoint in the Brinton Hotel on Route 202.

A 17-year-old youth from Chadds Ford was arrested for drug possession in Concord Township on March 19. Police were investigating two suspicious vehicles in the rear parking lot of the Concord Township municipal building and found the occupants in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia, a report said. Misdemeanor charges to be filed.

Police arrested three people, one adult female and two teenage females, on theft charges. A report said the three accused stole $142 worth of merchandise from the Target in Concord Township on March 23.

An unknown suspect broke into a car parked on Route 202 in Chadds Ford Township on March 8 and stole almost $1,200 worth of property, including a handbag, wallet, currency, wireless earplugs, eyeglasses and gift and credit cards.

Police cited an unidentified driver for speeding following a one-car crash on Route 52 in Pennsbury Township. Police said the driver was heading north but attempted to make a U-turn. The driver failed to keep the car on the roadway and got stuck in the mud on the side of the road. The vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet Impala, was towed back onto the road. There were no injuries and no vehicular damage, police said in the report.

Police are investigating the attempted theft of more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from the Walmart in East Marlborough Township on March 28. A report said store employees tried to stop the suspect, described only as a white female. Police said she fled in a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, with Delaware tags number 105340, after throwing items from the shopping cart onto the ground in the path of the manager who was trying to stop her.

Police are also looking for a white male suspect in connection with another robbery attempt at the Walmart on March 28. Police described the man as being 20-30 years old, wearing a black baseball cap and respirator mask, jeans and work boots. He fled the store with a cartload of dog food and electronic equipment. There was also a white female in the vehicle, a black Nissan sedan with unknown registration.

Police arrested a 33-year-old woman — unidentified in the report — from Upper Chichester for drug possession in Chadds Ford Township. Police said they initiated a traffic stop at Route 1 and Creek Road at 8:44 a.m. on March 11 before discovering the controlled substance, also not identified in the report.

Nathaniel R. Ganti, 18, of Kennett Square, was cited after the 2015 Subaru Outback he was driving crashed into a telephone pole on Marlboro Spring Road in East Marlborough Township, a police report said. According to the report, Ganti said he was distracted by a stinkbug in the car.

State police said Samantha Kalman, 27, of Philadelphia, was arrested on drug charges in Kennett Township on March 5. A report said police stopped a Nisan Altima for vehicle code violations and, during the initial investigation, discovered that a passenger in the car was wanted in Philadelphia. After taking the passenger into custody, police said they found an empty heroin packet and two plastic capsules containing crack cocaine. The traffic stop was made at 2:57 a.m. on Route 1 near Route 52.
