La Comunidad Hispana is inviting the community to participate in its debut, family-friendly, fundraiser 5-k race, entitled “All One Under the Sun.”
Scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 25, in Anson B. Nixon Park, the event will support LCH’s mission of helping low-income residents of southern Chester County to stay healthy, build strong families, and lead productive lives by providing high-quality, culturally welcoming services, said a La Comunidad press release.
“LCH is so excited to be kicking off this first-time event, which will bring together runners, walkers, and families for a fun morning that really connects with LCH’s mission, which is a focus on health and well-being for all,” LeeAnn Riloff, LCH’s director of development, said in the release.
Registration will start at 8 a.m., and the race will begin at 9 a.m., rain or shine. The tax-deductible registration fee is $25 in advance; $30 on race day. Runners in teams of five or more pay $20 per person with preregistration; the One-Mile Fun Walk is $15 per person.
The run is a fast course through and around the park with chip timing. The one-mile walk includes family activities at stations along the way. A children’s dash will start at 10 a.m. All kids under the age of 8 can participate in any event for $5.
The fundraiser will also include food, live music by Mariachi Flores from 10 to 11 a.m., goody bags, event t-shirts and an appearance by Philadelphia Union team members.
The top three male and female runners will receive medals. Medals will also be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in five-year age groups. Team awards will include largest group, best team spirit, and highest fundraising total.
In addition, the top three individual fundraisers will receive awards. Raising funds beyond the race entry fee is optional; participants may use the center of the event brochure, downloadable from the LCH website, to track sponsors. Donations can be mailed to LCH or turned in to the registration table on race day.
